Turkey is being resisted in it's attempt to take oil from region around the portion of Greece they have long occupied with no justification, other than conquest.
Both Turkey and Greece are NATO members.
Erdoo the Islamist Dictator of Turkey is in total control, nothing in Turk government checks his ambitions.

A ‘church’ is just a building.
‘The Church’ are the people.................

Yes, but ancient Churches should be preserved.
Without such structures, the depth and color of the history of the Church is lost.

I have no clue if he’s any better, but there’s some guy here in PA that Erdogan wants extradited to Turkey for attempted overthrow of Turkey’s government.

Brown shirts? Red Guard? The NEO-TOTALITARIANS aren’t Lone Rangers or even Texas Rangers. THEY ARE masked men and women though.

A church building is a sacred space. In a Catholic church, the sacrifice of Calvary is re-presented, heaven and earth are united in worship and praise; the heavenly Jerusalem. The people of God, yes, are much more sacred, but physical objects set aside for worship help us to know, love and serve Him, and must be treated with reverence. The devil knows, and seeks to desecrate and destroy

“physical objects set aside for worship”
Whoa, full stop before stone tablets get thrown at you. Good grief.
You can burn every church building on Earth to the ground and it will make absolutely NO difference, NONE, in our ability to worship, be saved, and not die a second death.

"Yes, but ancient Churches should be preserved. Without such structures, the depth and color of the history of the Church is lost."I concur with your sentiment, it is a great lost to history of Christianity.
However, as is said, possession is 9/10ths of the law. The traditional means of possession is taking by force and holding by same. The turks fought the wars for possession many years ago so the lands and all structures are the turks to do as they please unless and until some one else is willing to take them back and hold by force.
That is just the way it is. But also applies to a small country that fought for and holds some territory to the south of Turkey....
