Georgia, CD-9, safe GOP, open. Runoff

Andrew Clyde (R)

Matt Gurtler (R)

Gurtler had a reputation for bucking the Republican establishment when he was in the Georgia legislature. Clyde runs a gun shop in Athens, and is a 28-year Navy veteran. Both are very conservative.

I was surpsrised to see people having to wait in my Republican line to vote. Just one person in the demoncrap "line" who just walked up to the ID check table.

I wonder if the GOP turnout will be as big as it was in the 2016 primaries.

my scoring system uses 4 GOP races and 8 DEM races ... where there is an ideological difference apparent.

if there is a blowout, i wont count it, as it was a non-event. McGee is the only one I expect to win with 70% or more. Maybe 6 of the 8 DEM races, the preferred candidate wins.

Not much going on in Minnesota. This is a relatively quiet primary season.

The main show is the 5th District primary between Ilhan Omar (one of the Squad) and her challenger Antone Melton-Meaux. A loss by Omar would be huge. She has a solid slate of ethical lapses and anti-Semitic comments that would be tolerated by few in other districts.

As you watch the results tonight, look at these wards in Minneapolis - 7th, 10th, 11th and 13th. They are in an L shape along the western and southern sides of Minneapolis. Still majority white and full of guilt-ridden white liberals. If Melton-Meaux is doing well in those wards, it could be a long night for Omar.

In the 7th District (northwestern Minnesota), there is a GOP primary to see who faces Blue Dog Dem Rep Colin Peterson. In the last ten years, Peterson’s margins have been slipping. The GOP has recruited a top-tier challenger in former state senator and Lt Governor Michelle Fischbach. She has an opponent who has accused Fischbach of being insufficiently conservative but not with great success.

There are a number of DFL legislators who have strong primary challengers - all from the far Left. These districts are strongly Democrat so the winners are shoo-ins for the general election. There are a number of strong fights among Republicans for legislative seats - SD 47(sw third-ring suburbs of Minneapolis), HD55A (southern third ring suburb of Minneapolis, HD 33B (western third ring suburb of Minneapolis)and House District 23B (rural south central Minnesota). The winners of these primaries (except for HD55A should have the upper hand for the general election.
