The City Council is retaliating because Chief Best criticized them council over the defund movement.
........
They cut her future pay by 40% from $285,000 to $185,000.
...........
Technically she has to quit or the reduced salary will significantly reduce her future retirement pay if she were to accept it.
..........
Good luck finding her replacement for that pay.
........
There will be many more top officers quitting as they are getting the same pay cuts.

With the political climate surrounding issues of policing in these large cities, DA’s who are rabidly committed to finding and prosecuting any offense by a cop (real or perceived), no punishment for criminals, and lacking the tools and ability to stop rioters (no tear gas, rubber bullets, and you can’t use a baton) none of us should be surprised.

WHY would any police commander put his troops out there night after night to be spit on, cursed, and injured by a rabid mob under such conditions?

At some point the police represent the FORCE that society has equipped and authorized to enforce the law. When you effectively remove their ability and confidence to use force when necessary you end law enforcement. That is what has happened with these riots and the anarchists know it. The looters know it.

I think there are other groups at work here whose influence is far more worthy of our scorn and contempt than the police.

In Denver they’re called the “unhoused”.

Seattle could cut its cop budget by half and still keep street crime at, or below, current levels by simply focusing on CRIME. Not traffic tickets and other trivialities.

The assumption being prosecutors actually prosecute and obtain convictions.

The other assumption being the State Patrol and/or National Guard be used to put down riots and insurrection.

For more than a decade conservatives have been lamenting the cost, size and capabilities of police forces.

Now that the left agrees...we change our position?

Seattle will probably turn around—but it may take a decade or two. They have to hit bottom first before they can learn from their stupid mistakes.

Patience is your friend.

She was consistently hamstrung by the mayor during the unrest. She did not want to give up on the precinct that was overrun in CHAZ.

The police need MORE money not less. More money means more training. More training means better cops, less training means bad cops.

Democrats are so effin stupid.

That’s only because you are thinking like a conservative.

There will come a time when the Seattle Police are so weakened by retirements and resignations that even the semblance of a police presence will vanish from everyday life. And as now, the residents of Seattle, unable to sell their homes and flee, will resort to arming themselves. Untrained and frightened, the death toll of accidental and defensive shootings will spike. And the government will look to the only source of effective manpower available - the mob. Seattle, welcome to your own, personal Clockwork Orange.

Anthony Burgess was right. He just underestimated the ferocity of the victim class.

I don’t think they can get rid of them. With employers like Microsoft and Amazon the employees live in another world and have no real life experience. It will be years before they can figure it out but by then it will be too late. The cities will be destroyed. Look at San Francisco.

I live in Parkland, Wa, just north of Spanaway. Being in an area of lack of control but by sheriffs and state patrol, we don’t get near the coverage we could use.

In Parkland, our force is made up of sheriff’s deputies that are working over time from other jurisdictions so we can get basic coverage. However, it doesn’t get a lot done. The Spanaway area, Pierce County, is the meth capitol of the US per capita of population. And it has spread, due to lack of enforcement, to cities around it miles in every direction. Yes, during the early part of the decade, Pierce County has had the dubious distinction of being the meth capital of Washington State. It was at one time, one of the three biggest meth producing counties on the west coast. And the reason? Because they can with little law enforcement.

So get ready Seattle. You tried to use this approach with chop and it blew up in your faces. How soon will it have to happen again to finally get enough of your family members killed to make an impression it won’t work!!!

An old expression: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Never stuck, did it?

Well, if that’s true, I feel sorry for her and her police force.

Look at the photos of the city council.
2 dweebs and 5 unattractive women.

I bet they call the police when antifa comes for them.

Most people I have talked to from the area genuinely liked this lady. She was never partisan and was put in a very difficult position. She was on Judge Jeanine’s show Saturday and was very kind and charitable, appearing to want the best for her officers and the city.

I could see why residents helped defend her home.
