I use to drive for Werner who has a strict no gun rule, as do all of the big outfits. Some drivers actually followed that rule.
Rail is important but I lauged at the RR people who said they will replace trucking.

If the trucking companies were unified, it would work. But they are not— to include demographics. If you will not haul it, the Mexican, Russian, Indian, Pakistani, or whoever, will.

Long ago this story was repeated in cities as urban crime got out of hand: SF novelist Larry Niven and his wife went to a party with black friends at their home. Time to leave they called for a cab, which didn't show. Called again. Finally Niven demanded the dispatcher tell them why not. "The area you're calling from has been designated an optional area to drivers. Due to high crime many of our drivers will exercise the option to not go there. We can't force them. We're sorry, sir."

Yep. Happened to friends of mine in the UK. Happened to live in a bad area and cabbies wouldn’t go there.

I grab a pack every time I’m near a Sam’s club.
LOL! They had a pretty good supply last week at the one near us.
We don’t live near one but my son does so when I go visit him a trip to Sam’s is always in order.
Their beef used to be phenomenal. I don’t know if it’s still as good, but I’ll have to try it next time I’m near there.
