Exactly, they are instituting systemic racism.

10 out of 10 students couldn’t tell you who Millard Fillmore is. Heck, they can barely tell you who George Washington is.

Millard Fillmore-—now there’s a center of red hot controversy. Mention his name at a local bus stop or bar and watch out for a knife being pulled, if not a few shots fired.

How many can even place him in history? Who has heard of him?

I have the complete set of the American Presidents biographies by Times books. The one for Fillmore is by Paul Finkelman (2011) who said his good side showed in sending Commodore Perry to open Japan to the West. His bad was to cater to the South and alienate fellow Whigs, leading to the splitting of that party and his attempt to get re-elected in the anti-Catholic Know Nothing Party (he lost). Supposedly he hastened the momentum toward the Civil War. He enforced the Fugitive Slave Act and “his neighbors in Buffalo considered him a traitor in the Civil War.”

So how many FReepers and your relatives and friends have a book about Millard Fillmore on their shelves? I’m such a braggart.

Sure they can (honor students at least):

George Washington built that famous bridge thousands use each week. And he invented and designed the One Dollar Bill. The guy is famous, for Pete's sake.

Wow. Hillsdale College will be the only one standing. Or maybe about five or six more. If that. (Send your exceptions to refute me, of course. I'm only exaggerating but not by much.)

There's gonna be trouble if any institution attempts to cancel Van Buren.

“...create a welcoming environment for all.”

I for one would like to see picture of someone who felt the name ‘Millard Fillmore’ made him feel unwelcome. Does such a person even exist?

Hope they don’t come after me, ( for their sake), my name is on one of the buildings at the South campus.

Filmore - One of those anti-southern unionists. The Sons of Confederate Veterans must be behind that move.

I’ve had my diploma from Millard Fillmore College since 1968. I suppose they will want to reissue the diploma next so that it says State University of New York at Buffalo. Andrew the dictator can kiss my butt.

Isn’t this what the communists did in Russia after they murdered the Czar and his family? Renaming stuff.

I do find it interesting that a New York Politician in 1820 owned five slaves, though looking things up, it turns out that NY passed its law abolishing in 1817, but the law did not take effect until 1827.

Here’s the sadness of it all:
Most of the UB students don’t know who Fillmore and Washington is because half of them aren’t even from the country!

So get ready for this:

In Buffalo, NY, Jefferson Ave, Fillmore Ave, and Madison St ALL go right through ‘the hood’, with the 1st 2 being major throughfares in the black community. they’ll probably be trying to change those names as well.
