Police appear to be turning a blind eye to a growing crowd of drug addicts shooting up in broad daylight in Manhattan's Midtown neighborhood as locals plead for someone to step in and put an end to the unsettling scenes. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the once bustling area at the heart of the Big Apple has emptied of office workers rushing to and from meetings and tourists snapping photos of sparking skyscrapers. They've now been replaced with people down on their luck, many of them struggling with drug addiction, who have come to call that stretch of Broadway 'home'.

How depressing. The photos really look like shots from a dystopian movie, say a movie about savages and zombies roaming an abandoned city after a virus panic has destroyed civilized life...

I take no joy that because Texas and Florida thought they were smarter than everyone else and didn’t shut down for a minute cases are exploding and hundreds are dying a day.

And I noticed when New York people were dying there were 10 posts a day on it at least.
And people wanted to build a fence around us.
I can’t find one thread on Texas and Florida exploding.
And now the deaths aren’t real all of a sudden but they were in New York City.

Police don’t arrest unkies because there’s no money to be made arresting broke junkies. Let one well-dressed, rich suburbanite try to shoot up in the middle of Manhattan and they will be arrested in a heartbeat.
