The federal government – amazingly – does not reward bad behavior; Let's Hope FEMA stands firm in refusing to send aid to Minnesota

It would take volumes to recite how the city government in Minneapolis and the state government in Minnesota made it possible for rioters to inflict hundreds of millions of dollars of damage on Minneapolis and its twin city, St. Paul. After standing aside while Black Lives Matters protesters, Antifa anarchists, and garden-variety criminals trashed those cities, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz then had the chutzpah to ask for more than $500 million in aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (“FEMA”). On Saturday, to most people’s surprise, FEMA said “no.”

Because George Floyd died during an arrest in Minneapolis, the excessively Democrat politicians at both the state and city level felt it was incumbent upon them to do absolutely nothing when the looting and fires started. The fact that much of the damage took place in black neighborhoods and destroyed black-owned businesses was irrelevant to Mayor Jacob Frey, the Minneapolis City Council, and Governor Walz. It was more important to show their revolutionary street creds.

According to the local Minneapolis paper, the Star Tribune, the decision to be “cool” with the “protests” proved costly:

Walz asked President Donald Trump to declare a “major disaster” for the state of Minnesota in his request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on July 2. More than 1,500 buildings were damaged by fires, looting and vandalism in the days of unrest that followed Floyd’s May 25 death in Minneapolis police custody, racking up more than $500 million in damages, according to Walz.

Most people probably assumed that, because this is an election year, Trump would push FEMA to approve Walz’s request. It came as a delightful surprise on Saturday to learn that FEMA refused

Hmmmm.....could the silent majority turn Minnesota to DJT? I doubt it. I think this just motivates the Dems to get out the vote in hopes that Biden cuts them a check. In fact, I’m expecting Joe to announce that very thing in 5....4....3....

… made it possible for rioters to inflict hundreds of millions of dollars of damage on Minneapolis and its twin city, St. Paul.

They are also responsible for the rest of the country’s riots (aka demonstrations).

Not true. Look at all the tax dollars that go to questionable cherities. George Soros has 199 charities that probably get billions and supports Antifa and lots of bad people.

And THIS, in spite of his significant personal flaws, is an example of why he is a GREAT President.

To the Governor of Minnesota, and the Mayors/city councils of Minneapolis and St. Paul:

Actions, do, indeed, have consequences! As do inactions!

You allowed and encouraged these BLM/atifa/OFA/George Soros thugs to cause $500 million in damages, you must pay for those damages!

Be tough, President Trump! Stand firm! Don't allow FEMA (i.e., US poor suffering U.S.A. taxpayers) to pay for these criminal misdeeds!

“””Hmmmm.....could the silent majority turn Minnesota to DJT? I doubt it.””””

I live right next to Minneapolistan. There is an incredible amount of anger all across the state at the way the governor and mayor just stood back and watched the riots happen.

They want to come to Minneapolis for the weekend to watch a Twins, Vikings, Wild game without getting robbed and shot.

They are also incredibly tired of the highways being blocked for whatever reason the mobs want and nothing is done about it.

I know people who live in occupied territory ( Minneapolis) and they are upset that the cops won’t even come if called.

President Trump has a very good chance at taking Minnesota.

I wonder if it will come down to somehow providing aid to those not responsible for the riot damage (i.e. businesses) without passing the funds through Minnesota’s government.

Democrats have gotten away with so much over the many years they expect to get away with even more. Hold the line. The Democrats have to lose on this, and so much more.

I’ll respectfully disagree with that statement. The riots were organized, and paid for, well in advance, just waiting for a trigger event.
It could have been any police action, anywhere. It wasn’t caused by the event in Mpls, only the fuse was lit there.

I’d like to think so. Oregon...the sane parts...are really pissed at our governor, and the goings-on in Portland, but I doubt it will matter.

…only the fuse was lit there.

So if I understand you correctly, the bomber who lights the fuse is not responsible for the damage?

I'm actually SHOCKED they included this in the article:

In 2015, however, FEMA, under the Obama administration, denied aid to the state of Maryland after rioting in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray, a Black man who died in police custody. Maryland appealed the decision and was again rejected.

I’m not sure what Fireone is referring to. The fuse was lit there by progressives, but progressives in the state and local government had great opportunities to extinguish the fuse before the bomb blew, and didn’t.

And if the body camera recording transcripts reported by Gateway Pundit and posted in another thread here last night are true, then the progressives in local government certainly may have deliberately suppressed them to create the explosion we still suffer from.

The Damages should be paid for exclusively by the Public Employee’s of the State, even if it means SEIZING THEIR ASSETS!
