A memorial just north of New York City honoring five firefighters who died during the September 11 terrorist attacks was defaced by vandals, who knocked the flag pole to the ground.
City police are investigating the vandalism that occurred sometime Tuesday night in Washingtonville. Vandals successfully severed the monument's flag pole about five feet from the base. An undisclosed message was left written across the base of the granite memorial erected to honor firefighters Mark Whitford, Bobby Hamilton, Gerry Nevins, Dennis Devlin, and Glenn Perry.
Washingtonville Mayor Joseph Bucco said the flagpole will be replaced, and is offering a $3,000 reward for information about the criminals who perpetrated the act.
Surprised the US flag wasn’t set on fire or at least ripped to the ground.

Maybe in another year or two the police will read a paper or catch a newscast about the monument destruction going on. Whether they would take any proactive measures to protect them is doubtful.
Or maybe they know that a desecrated US flag would be the final straw for patriots. Oh, who the hell am I kidding?! The vandals could have pissed on the flag, and people would just shrug and submit a sternly written letter or post here.

Still, NO EXCUSE! Hang the perps FROM the flagpole and let the crows do the rest. Grrrrr!

The vandals need to be SHOT, publicly. They have demonstrated that they are (1) totally ignorant about even recent U.S. history, (2) utterly insensitive to the horrific loss of nearly 3,000 innocent people whose crime was going to work that day, (3) dangerously stupid to adopt the ideals of BLM, Antifa, and the commie. Yes, shoot them in the face or the gut to die slowly and painfully, your choice.
That flagpole must have had some pro-Confederate writing on it. [/sarc]

Frankly, I am for bringing back the public stocks for crimes like this. These vandals think this is a victimless crime and minimal punishment. It isn’t and I think days in the stocks is minimal.
Make the next pole from a material that is extremely difficult to cut and when one of the rabble says, “All this for a damn flag?!” we’ll know who to arrest.
