Is that trailer park Motel still in Broken Arrow?
I believe the ruling Only applies to criminal cases of native indians. They now must be prosecuted by tribal or federal law.
The rest of the non Indian population would see no change as all non indians are prosecuted by the state.
Does Ok have a death penalty? If not then when they retry him under federal charges he may not be so happy.
It is way past time we ended this fiction of the tribes being a sovereign nation inside a sovereign nation and tell either join our country and become regular citizens or be treated as a foreign nation.
If they choose the latter then put fences around the land put up customs booths and start charging tariffs on items going in and out.
Re: 2
Another one. Did you read the *entire* opinion?
Unbelievable.
Oklahoma DOES have the death penalty.
So did they.
You missed your chance!
Probably would have at least two 1975 Buicks propped up on bricks in your front yard.
Casinos everywhere!!
Americans overthrew the Hawaiian monarchy and declared the Republic of Hawaii in 1893 (the first year of the second Cleveland presidency); Hawaii’s government requested, and received, annexation by the U.S. in early 1898 (during McKinley’s presidency).
I’m pretty sure that U.S. jurisdiction over the Hawaiian Islands has been confirmed by federal courts before.
Sounds like possibly the most retarded decision I’ve ever heard (today) I’m disgusted the 4 lib judges went for it let alone Gorsuch. So now Indians who rape or kill within the boundaries of this fictional reservation can’t be prosecuted by “The White man”?
I liked Gorsuch’s reasoning in “Washington State Dept. of Licensing v. Cougar Den, Inc.” about whether Indians in WA State needed to pay gas tax (eff taxes) but this is some BS.
So now Congress has to step in? Not with Cunty in charge of the House and a rat filibuster in the Senate.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It reads much like a mystery.
Just started reading it. My great great grandmother was full blooded blackfoot from Dakota’s and I have always been interested in historical events regarding the Indians in our country.
