They never will. Not even after Florida and Texas are solid blue states due to policies supported by the GOP.

The left is working hard on Texas. Out of the blue I received a text message yesterday from someone supposedly on a committee for Beto asking who I was voting for in the 2020 presidential election (I've been registered to vote in Texas since November 2018). Never had such a text before back in California. I didn't respond, which I suspect would be the response from most GOP voters.

"but for SCOTUS to go 7-2 there needed to be a demostrable suspicion of a crime."

Have you even read the ruling before spewing out garbage?

Agree with you that this does not mean there is any crime. It means, imho, that the high court does not believe absolute immunity is proper, to which I agree--with my laymen's general understanding.

thanks...good post here #26

The legal experts at SCOTUSblog are painting both these as a win for the President. Even though he lost on the question of “blanket immunity” in state court, they ruling said there is a higher standard for Presidents and remanded back to the lower court for consideration under that standard. According to Amy Howe on Scotusblog the long and short of it, is it will be tied up in court for months if not years and could even end up back at the Supreme Court. IE there is certainly NOT going to be any tax records released before the 2020 election.

JUST IN: Trump attorney Jay Sekulow: “We will now proceed to raise additional Constitutional and legal issues in the lower courts.”

You can literally see the blue wave coming from Mexico on the electoral map. All the border counties are blue except for one. TX cities are blue. Once the near suburbs flip due to blue state migration and anchor babies its over for TX. Rural and far suburban areas will be outvoted. It’s that simple.

So this opens up all of Obama’s sealed records?

Someone at Judicial Watch needs to file for release of those immediately.

For YEARS it’s been the tax returns and the financial records.. it will be really funny if they found out there’s nothing there..

If there was anything there, it would have leaked out long ago. There's a very good chance Trump is trolling the Rats.

As a CPA, I have been involved in numerous tax audits and assisted clients in getting gaming licenses. Audits can get very much in minute details but are nothing compared to the depth that gaming background checks go into.

Also, top notch tax auditors are trained in looking for signs of fraud and would make referrals to the DOJ if they suspect fraud.

I have no doubt that the Democrats and liberal media can make mountains out of molehills but ultimately there will be nothing there.

Further, I fully expect that once they obtain Trumps personal information they will only see summary information from his many companies and the whole subpoena process will begin again to get information from the companies he controls. And then there is the next layer down etc.

I agree. Texas will turn light blue by 2024 and then dark blue by 2032.

Ruling just issued. Subpoena upheld.

-ish.

Ruling against Absolute Immunity. Everything else unaddressed, and case remanded to lower court.

These are not a normal person’s records, but the equivalent of a multi-tiered business record. Even if there isn’t actually anything there, there is so much that is inscrutable to most people that any misconstrual can’t be readily contradicted. It’s not something that lends itself to “read it for yourself”.

.."best CPAs"

CPAs who I'm certain know what's legal and what's not, while using tax law to their advantage.

There will eventually be plenty of tax issues which will be used to batter DjT--even if totally legal. This just delays the inevitable bashing. And Congress can't have access, which Schitthead was certainly counting on.

Worst case, down the road, some of his deductions may be ruled improper, but that's likely to be as bad as it gets, sometime after re-election. And I'm reading that Schitt can't impeach for anything occurring before DjT's campaign was initiated.

The Court affirmed that there was/is an ongoing criminal investigation. That means there are specific acts bring alleged to the Manhattan Grand Jury. Absent specific allegations the Court would likely never have heard the case. The case was mot sent back to a lower court. The Court clearly left the matter in Trump’s hands. He can look to quash the subpoena in NY or Federal court. The Court listed several possible arguments Trump’s attorneys could use. But failing that he must turn over the records.

The Court affirmed that there was/is an ongoing criminal investigation.

They did nothing of the kind.
The Supreme Court ruled that President Trump is not immune from a subpoena over his financial and tax records to Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., — and declined in a separate case to issue a definitive ruling on whether congressional committees can have access to Trump's financial records, throwing both issues back to lower courts.
That's it.

Question for all you legal eagles- the case goes back to the lower courts. After arguments the lower court sides with Vance/NY and rules against the President. Is team Trump then allowed to appeal to the Supreme Court- again??

He is allowed to appeal to the Supremes again if he loses again in lower courts. Whether they will take the case is an open question.

BUT, he can present further arguments in the lower courts and there is at least a guaranteed appeal to the circuit court. Plus the potential of a further trip to the Supremes if he can claim the lower courts did not correctly apply the tests the Supremes said they had to.

Bottom line is that nothing will be settled before the election.

If DJT loses the election things get very interesting. He may just drop his opposition to the case. Why? Biden has a lot of Chinese and European skeletons in his closet. Joe would be subject to the same decision.

What position the RATs take on the litigation really would depend on Joe's vulnerability vs. Trump hatred.

More popcorn.
