NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) - Two drivers in separate stolen vehicles were arrested following a crash in Newberg over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, officers responded to a report of a suspect that had just stolen a person's Toyota Land Cruiser. The stolen vehicle was located minutes later as it went through town, according to police.

The suspect attempted to elude police through downtown Newberg, then crashed into an occupied Buick Regal near East Franklin and College Street.

The driver in the Toyota, identified as Randy Lee Cooper, 27, of Portland, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude police, third-degree assault, reckless driving, and other related crimes.

According to police, officers learned the Buick was reported stolen three weeks ago.

The driver in the stolen Buick, identified as Kristin Nicole Begue, 25, of Newberg, was found to be under the influence and was arrested.

Begue is facing charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

He stole a car and crashed into her car...Her car was stolen three weeks ago... I think that it is a strange story... Does she look like a car thief?

“Does she look like a car thief?”
Need to see a full body picture before I can pass judgment.

Depends. Might be her parents’ or her ex-boyfriend’s car. Remember, Karens are a thing these days.

They both look like our current crop of pampered, spoiled rotten, out of control, drug addled kids.

BTW, neither of them will do much time at all for any of this, and they’ll be back on the streets to do their drugs and steal more cars in no time.

Yeah, a Buick Regal was my Mom’s ‘favorite’ car. The seats sat extremely low, and had cheap cushion type material for the seats. Maintenance-wise, a great vehicle but not something that young person would be attracted to.

I think you could put a 7-ft tall guy in the driver’s seat...because it sat so low.

I love Buicks, and Regals are nice. My favorite car was an ‘85 Buick Riviera. I probably wouldn’t STEAL one — ‘cause I don’t steal — but wouldn’t mind having one for fun.

I see the kernel of a Hallmark movie in this.

She was back in town for Christmas, and “borrowed” her grandmothers car. Meanwhile, her high school crush was “boosting” a car at the dealership where he used to work. Fate brought them together, when ...

In the past, I owned 3 Buick regals. They were all great cars. Drove one of the 170,000 miles.

They should both sue the police for the chase. Defund the police. They should have only sent social workers.

Little off subject but does deal with stolen cars.

I live in a small California town in the Central Valley. One of the main North South Freeways cuts the town in half. There are only two off ramps into our town.

The police have installed cameras on the off on ramps that can read license plates. You guessed it, anyone getting off the freeway in our little town driving a stolen vehicles is soon met by one of our police officers. Reading the weekly crime report they managed to catch two or three a week.

No high speed chases since they are usually caught at one of the gas stations or a fast food place.
