A federal judge Monday dismissed a lawsuit by Michigan Republican groups seeking to block a new state redistricting commission. The ruling is the latest legal setback for Republicans, who earlier this year failed to win an injunction that would prevent the formation of the commission, which they contend is unconstitutional.
The decision Monday by U.S. District Court Judge Janet Neff, appointed by GOP President George W. Bush is a blow to state Republicans who fought against the implementation of the redistricting commission, which was created in 2018.

BTW, this "bipartisan commission for fair redistricting" will consist of 4 dems, 4 reps and 5(supposedly)"non-partisans"...meaning "independents" of the Bernie persuasion I'm sure...because, as the article states, "Applicants self-identify under threat of perjury, but there is no official record of party affiliation because Michigan voters dont register to vote by political party"
Funny how this never happens when democrats are redistricting
Stay out da friggin Bushes!
What the in name only Democratic Party has been doing in gerrymandering remapping has been singling out areas of various districts where it is dominated by a minority and create a single district out of it which not only disrupts those districts affected of getting civic services needs but pits one group against the other. An example of this is in what Chicago did here;
CHICAGO MIDWAY AIRPORT AREA HISTORY
HOW IDENTITY POLITICS WARD RE MAPPING DESTROYED THE COMMUNITIES WITHIN
That finger of Chicago’s border on its south side extending from 51st to 65th streets 4 miles further beyond Cicero Avenue to Harlem Avenue has a very interesting history. Post WWII during the 1950’s and 60’s the area mushroomed into dozens of single dwelling subdivions where thousands of of five and more room single 1 family units were built. After a struggle by residents including this writer the area managed to get the area remapped into one ward (23rd) and only one alderman needed to respond to their needs. Today the area has four alderman including the 12th, 13th, and 14th who’s wards are spread miles apart and the reason is political because the area was conservative The same rules apply to state and congressional districts
I predicted the Lipinski loss before all the votes came in: mosesdapoet to PBRCat 3/17 12:12:26 AM Democrats weren’t happy with his votes on abortion and on being the only democrat to vote NO on allowing men to to call themselves a women and compete with women in college sports.
Those who live in Chicago had already voted at their local public library. In the 3rd Congressional district looks like Daniel Lipinski lost because of redistricting. Which had previously included adjacent Chicago city wards to his 23rd in a district that dealt exclusively with city issues such as a subway L service and the Stevenson Expressway Wards which were reliable Dan’s father William O Lipinski supporters but since nost had areas with hispanic last names those areas were redistrcted and reassigned to Gutieriezs district.

“Bipartisan” commissions are unicorns. If you find one, catch it and bring it to me. I wish to study it.
-Bipartisan commissions are unicorns.
Rhinos are sometimes mistaken to be unicorns.
U.S. District Court Judge Janet Neff, appointed by GOP President George W. Bush...
Another bang-up job by GW Bush.
The rat bushes are in bed with the rat clintons
Little Janet is a Resistance "judge".
Despite the blocking of her confirmation vote by U.S. Senator Sam Brownback from Kansas because she had attended a same-sex commitment ceremony, Neff was confirmed by a vote of 84 to 3 by the Senate on July 9, 2007. She received her commission on August 6, 2007.
She has generated controversy over her stance over a federal gun control issue caused by Kent County Sheriff Larry Stelma over his comments that he "will not abide by or enforce federal law which he determines to be unconstitutional".
At the time of Resistance Girl Neff's confirmation in 2007, Michigan had strongly framed the "one man, one woman" marriage in its state Constitution.
Her circuit court, the Sixth, held out against the pink Nazis until 2015.
This POS Neff does whatever the eff she wants to when ruling from the bench, the laws be damned.
It's plain that this was a political ruling made for her REAL party - the Democrats.
Let's all thank Dubya, the Smirking Chimp Globalist for this steaming pile of dogsqueezins.
The June 2013 decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in United States v. Windsor striking down the law barring federal recognition of same-sex marriage gave significant impetus to the progress of lawsuits that challenged state bans on same-sex marriage in federal court. Since that decision, with only a few exceptions, U.S. District Courts and Courts of Appeals have found state bans on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, as have several state courts. The exceptions have been a state court in Tennessee, U.S. district courts in Louisiana and Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear appeals from that circuit's decision.
On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down all state bans on same-sex marriage, legalized it in all fifty states, and required states to honor out-of-state same-sex marriage licenses in the case Obergefell v. Hodges.
This POS Neff is a Resistance "judge", and a closet Democrat - no longer closeted.
Hahahahaha, exactly. We’ve had a string of idiots in that office starting with Bush Sr and ending in late January 2017.
Thanks kiryandil.
Well one thing is certain we will never see another Bush elected President
Yep.
13 (well paid) commissioners benefitting from political cronyism.
It’s never WHAT you know.
It’s not even WHO you know.
It’s always who you blow.
Yet another gift given to us by the god damned so called republicans.... First the people of this state wanted pot reforms... The pubs said no... So the people got together and put legalization on the ballot... Every stoner in the state came out to vote, and elected not only legalized pot, but the governor with the big tits and no brains.... Lesson to be learned, if the overwhelming population want something simple, give it to them.... Or else you will get large breasted socialists..
Maybe that’s what The Loyal Opposition [GOPe] in Michigan was TRYING to do - get Democrat votes to turn out in 2018...
