...people on Social Security...

Us, too. Added together.

Remember, POTUS campaigned on $1200 minimum SS per retiree. He’s saying now that he is requesting a larger individual stimulus than the progs. I wonder if he will also back a SS increase?

We plan to revive our craft lines, but at a lower level of inventory, selling at local venues during tourist season and perhaps consigning locally over the winter. But, being still in process of moving in/arranging space, etc, that won’t be starting until next Spring.

And this heat wave means high electric bills for the a/c as long as it lasts. Which isn’t even about personal comfort. We now have a manufactured home and keeping humidity down is vital to not damaging the structure. And boy, it is humid!

It’s easy to see how even fiscal conservatives can be seduced by government money, isn’t it?

The Senate is in recess, I believe, until the 17th. Why?!

They should not be. They need to be there working on some kind of compromise bill. There’s an election coming up if they haven’t noticed, and it would be a tragedy if the Senate goes back to the Democrats. It is what it is, and no amount of McConnell pontificating will do any good right now. The Dems and the media will scream bloody murder if nothing is done for the millions of unemployed, and the voters will issue payback in November. It’s called political reality. Why does the GOP get played so often, and so easily? Work out a deal involving back-to-work incentives along with phased-out federal benefits after July. They can win an election with that. But why the long recess at such a critical time??

They decided that it was not a critical time, given the good non-farm payrolls number. Economy must be OK. McConnell out yesterday saying they’d go ahead and pass something this month.

Why are you guys on vacation during a pandemic?

It looks like you're all cruelly holding people hostage until you get around to doing something.
Waiting until the last days to pass an extension for unemployment is insane.

States have been doing a terrible job of managing unemployment, and I'm hearing talk of a reduced benefit no higher than a someone's usual wages.
Well, how does that work for the self-employed? Who's going to figure out what that would be?
Additionally payroll taxcuts may help, but it won't do a thing for a self-employed person with no employees.

And now IRS is going to be tasked with sending out more stimulus checks, while having to deal with Tax returns.
Well, I filed back in March or April, and they still haven't finished processing my return.
And I owe them money, how can they pay out what they don't collect?

I sure hope you guys are working hard from where ever you are,
but not doing the right thing here is going to do more damage than you can imagine.

People need to know what's happening.
It looks very bad for both republicans and democrats...
