Sorry doc — not my claim, if you dont like it drive to Atlanta and talk to the director of the CDC
Oh btw — did you see that ventilator death is only 35% (J Crit Care Med) not 85%?
Case fatality rates are based, by definition, on actual known cases.
I do not include estimates in my calculations, and neither do any of the public health agencies. This is because any method of estimation is highly flawed, especially where the disease is new and we are only now beginning to study it. Data is limited on the rate of “asymptomatic” cases; I have seen some data suggesting that it is about 4% of all cases, but the fact is, we just do not know.
I do point out the limits in my calculations; for example, that I have based all of my death rate by demographic calculations on Maryland numbers, with the expectation that an analysis of all case demographic data would yield a similar result.
I'm not as worried about the new influenza as I am about Covid-19. When an influenza virus adapts to a human host, it usually drops considerably in virulence. In addition, we have technology to rapidly develop new influenza vaccines. We don't have any such technology for coronaviruses.
It does make sense that someone whose body is still trying to repair the damage from Covid-19 would be hit harder by an influenza than someone who is healthy. Your body only has so much energy to fight disease.
Maybe YOU don't take infectious disease seriously, but I do. Even before Covid-19, I was in the habit of taking precautions against getting sick. My last cold was 4 or 5 years ago, and the cold previous to that was in 2010. Now, I take the extra precautions like wearing a mask and wiping shopping cart handles with disinfectant wipes. I am not going to get sick.
Links? References?
The CDC puts the confirmed cases on their website, as well as confirmed death data. Right this minute, the CDC lists 2,732,531 cases in the US. They have no reason to exclude PCR/virus culture confirmed cases from that count.

And, just because—
128,648 deaths/2,732,531 cases (x100) comes out to a death rate of 4.71%. Which is slightly higher than my daily calculation from the Johns Hopkins numbers. Hmm.
The CDC? ROTFLMAO! How about a CREDIBLE source? Idol worship is bad for you.
Youre right. Youre probably not going to get sick. But you are going to be exposed to Covid 19. Whether you get sick or not is up to God.
Did you know that right now there are 300,000,000,000,000 individual viruses in your body? All it takes is one Covid 19 Viron to find its way into your nose and you are technically infected.
A mask is not going to help you, but if you wear it all day its probably going to hurt you. It is a Petri dish for the collection of viral and bacteria particles.
It also cuts your oxygen down below OSHA allowable standards for work and suppresses your immune system. So if you wear a mask all day, then you probably are going to get sick.
Go outside. Get sunshine. Breath fresh air. Enjoy life. Ditch the mask. You can safely wear a Lone Ranger mask. But covering your nose and mouth all day is very unhealthy.
Fear Not. God is in control. Until Hes done with you, you are invincible.
“Id like to flick a booger on exDemMom and watch her faint....”
I walked by a woman in Walmart in an isle without a mask. She flung her self against the racks in fear. I was less than 6 feet away, bad me.
Go Baka! Roll Tide! Better now, than getting this crap in the cold winter months.
Naughty naughty.
The horror.
