It isn’t just De Blasio - he’ll just be followed by more of the same. What really moves people out is the thought that the most exclusive NYC neighborhoods are one subway ride away from feral Simbas.

The town I live in is close enough to commute to NYC if you’re committed to it. There is no easy route, no train and expect to leave by 5:15 at the latest. It is however doable as I did it some when I worked in Manhattan.
As soon as the Covid lockdown went into effect, all the NYers who had homes where I live showed up. The rest of the NY vehicles everywhere? Buying every home for sale. There is _ZERO_ inventory in my town. My architect has had his vanity party house for sale since 2007(6k square feet, 5 levels, awesome view). Finally sold for 700k. The neighbor across the street? Finally got his $625k after 18 months on the market. A rehab next door that is a POS with a nice finish? Sold in 2 days.
It doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that people want out of NYC.

Must have been a real dump anyway.
Many of these were decent sized apartments that got split up into two or three, or maybe even four.
