Wild fireworks street fight caught on video in Philadelphia

Neighbors in Philadelphia's Logan section said they are growing increasingly frustrated with people setting off fireworks at all hours of the night. "You didn't know whether it was firecrackers or guns," said Logan resident Miss Edens. "I peek out the door, I saw a light, I say, 'Oh it is firecrackers but it is scary because we don't need that.'"

In a video that's going viral online, a group of people can be seen throwing fireworks at each other at the intersection of 15th and Duncannon Avenue last Thursday.

"The whole neighborhood is in an uproar because we can't sleep at night," said Renee Hunley. "It's a pain to us because when they send them (firecrackers) up, the paper comes down, it's all in my yard, it's all over my car and they're not coming back to clean it."

We had some last night going off but that was because of Canada Day festivities. Otherwise most nights have been quiet up here in the great white north.

I would have enjoyed a fireworks duel when I was a teenager

Idiots aren’t even wearing masks. Don’t they realize how dangerous that is?

Wish I could understand what some the residences were mumbling through their mandated snot rags.

Chicago youths go across the border to buy fireworks in Indiana. Everything but M-80’s is legal in Indiana.

The lines at the fireworks stands at the border are blocks long. It is going to be a hot time in Chicago this weekend.

Maybe the residents should call their neighborhood social workers.

Are the Social Fireworks Workers? Or Social FireWorksWorkers?

I remember visiting some Nam buds in New York city
in the 1970s on the Fourth of July.

It sounded like Nam and the streets were an inch deep
in shredded chinese news print. One of my friends lived
on the edge of Harlem and we got into duels with the people
in the street, us throwing M-80s off the roof and the
brothers shooting at us with roman candles.

Good times.

Nothing new back in the day.

Many of us youngsters looked forward to the 4th for the yearly fireworks duel.

Neighboring town would come over and we’d have at it for a couple of hours, or whenever the “ammo” ran out, roaring through the streets in pickups with the beds packed full of “warriors” and assorted fireworks.

Marveled over how none of us had gotten seriously wounded during those years.

Good times, indeed.

Still scared out of what little wits you have left, huh boy? (You’ll note there are no typos in this reply, my frightened little lady.) Cheers!
