It’s a fancy title for what flyover country calls a county executive.
My last vacation there was in the eighties. It’s been off the list a while.

Sounded odd to me as well. I looked it up, this position functions as a financial master planner of sorts leading the Board of Supervisors around by their noses since they aren’t capable enough to do it.
Got it. Unfortunately, we have those.

DICK Wolf working on “Social Worker Law and Order” the first show will be about a Black lesbian Social Worker who is new to the LASWPD. She thinks she should go undercover as a nun to “prove” the Catholic Church is racist. Her boss, a tough no nonsense transgendered Mexican undocumented “citizen” “man” wants her to investigate a small pocket of openly conservative unrepentant Americans. The script is being finalized now but a leaked copy of the LA Times review calls it the break out hit of the season.
