The ACLU and others begged for body cams when they thought it would help their cause. Now that it has shown the opposite in 99% of cases they are slowly demanding less use of body cams.

Doubtless a product of our friends at Uberti. Too clean for an original.

You guys are amazing.

Thanks for your comment.

When I was first working I got a job at the post office for Christmas. There was a black girl who came across a package marked “fragile” and threw it as hard as she could and then announced to all “they can’t fire me, I’m black”. Unfortunately, I think she was right - they couldn’t fire her” Too bad that she decided to use her status there to destroy someone’s property.

Only if you use a shotgun. I’m OK with that.

Then Cops Released The Video

Releasing the video didn't stop the morons and their lying. They are still claiming he was unarmed, shot in the back, hands up, etc. They even had a protest against the cops. Fortunately, there is solid evidence to put the perp away for a good while.

Obviously a stolen gun too. A replica 1851 Richards-Mason Navy with a 5-1/2" barrel, .38SP. He probably thought it was antique and worth thousands, thus wrapped in cloth to protect it.

"Everyone of the “witnesses” providing materially false information should be charged."

Unless and until this happens, bearing false witness against law enforcement will continue.

It really is.

Used to be excused as hyperbole.

Clearly, not anymore.

You do not always have time to activate anything except the trigger.

This is the other side of why every officer should have their body cameras locked on at all times while on shift. Good officers will now have their careers and reputations saved and there is a much lower chance that they will have idiot riots.

Given that this happened when you first started working, I was depressed to see that you have been on the forum even longer than I am, and at least at present reside in the part of the world from which I came (the Pacific North West), where I would have hoped that this attitude would have been slower to arise.

When I first started working, I believe that the blacks in my area were well-enough integrated (and few enough in number) that there never would have been any behaviour of this sort, nor would they have been cut slack for such idiotic things on account of race. My siblings (adopted from Asia) did encounter some discrimination from a small minority in the community, and I suspect that blacks might have as well, but it was a very rare awkward comment or action to which “Sticks and stones may break my bones” would suffice to respond. Not at the level of property destruction.

Possibly. I was reading an article in Handgun Magazine a month or so ago about the .36 to .38 Uberti conversion they were marketing. But theirs had the standard 7 1/2” barrel and fake ivory grips (which I despise). Mine has nice walnut grips and fits my hand like a comfortable old pair of jeans. I have a fascination with 19th and early 20th century wheelguns.

Once upon a time, when I was still an active lawman, I spent an about 18 months period assigned to the Internal Affairs Office for our agency.

It was found by our investigators that, of all complaints of police corruption & brutality that were lodged against our staff, over the preceding decade, that over 92% of those claims were not only FALSE but KNOWINGLY DISHONEST.
I remember specifically one case where a woman from Baltimore stated under oath that she had witnessed one of our uniformed officers beating a civilian with what she said “that looked like a piece of pipe, until he fell unmoving onto the sidewalk”.
Mrs. D_______________ further stated that at that time that she was standing on her terrace & directly across the street & 3 floors above where the beating occurred”.
The witness also stated that she could see the face of our officer clearly & picked his face from a “photo spread”.

Investigation later determined that the witness could NOT have witnessed what she claimed that she had seen as there was a 8-story apartment house between the place where the incident happened & her balcony.
(Under questioning, she finally admitted that the “victim” was a friend of her stepsister’s & that if she claimed to have seen the incident that “I just know that I’ll be on television. & I might even get some money later when Paul wins his suit against th epolice.” - The witness was indicted, tried, convicted & sentenced to 46 months confinement in a federal correctional facility for Criminal Perjury.)

Ever since that time, I’ve taken all such claims with a POUND of salt.

Yours, TMN78247

Those witnesses who lied about their observations should be charged for giving false testimony during a police investigation.

That revolver almost looks like it could be black powder,

It is a black powder replica. Cheap but it will still do some damage.

Its curious isn’t it...where did this attitude come from that is so prevalent today.

Have you considered speaking to your doctor about an antifungal to clear that up? :P :D

Thank you. In my case it’s a combination of professional training mixed with intense personal interest. I’m a retired law enforcement officer who was a firearms instructor and armorer. In addition I have a voracious apetite for history, specifically firearms history. And for the last 10 years I’ve been studying at the feet of the master, Ian McCollum of “forgotten weapons.com”

You do not always have time to activate anything except the trigger.

Memory is so cheap and batteries rechargeable, these days I don’t know why you wouldn’t activate the camera at the start of your shift and let it run all day.

The only thing I find disgusting is the number of shots fired and they couldn’t turn his head into a canoe?
