“How the hell did people not see that he was a problem 10 years ago?”

How about closer to 25 years ago?

The NRA worked because of volunteer efforts. I used to spend one weekend a month at a local gun range providing free NRA firearms training. Then a fellow named Neil Knox (it you don't know who he was, look him up.) started asking questions about where the money was going. Next thing you know, Wayne starts a war to make sure Neil doesn't become President and ultimately leave tbe organization.

As a life member, I'm not quitting - but I don't do much else but read about them. Neil Knox was one of the strongest defenders of the Second Amendment that we have ever had. LaPierre wasn't fit to lick his boots.

LaPierre is the reason I quit. The man is corrupt and run the NRA as if it were a personal fiefdom. Why do you think Ollie left?
I was a member since ‘64, joined at the age of 18. I won’t go back until there’s a full house cleaning.

Inventing higher levels of lifetime subscription and multiple prize sweepstakes that imply that a donation is required (when very fine print says otherwise) I think really turns many members off from donating.

I am not familiar with the sweepstakes because I do not pay attention to such nonsense. But yes, they are always inventing new ways to coax people into giving them more money. But, the “free gifts” have surprisingly been quality items for the most part and I like the magazines.

I am offended by any “nonprofit” which overpays its chief executive. That is why we stopped giving money to charities like St. Judes which does good work but pays its CEO tens of million of dollars and a dozen other executives over a million dollars a year. The only overpaid exec I am aware of at the NRA is LaPierre and it is probably long past time for the NRA to give him a kick in the rump and send him on his way.

Aside from NFA34, GCA68?

How about this? https://www.statesman.com/article/20140603/NEWS/306039722

NRA called open carry “downright weird” and refused to support it.

Especially when they couldn’t even attend the protest 10 miles from their office. Too much caviar in their mouths to even make a statement.

Probably could use some cutbacks and streamlining.

The cause of the crisis is Wayne and his buddies siphoning off cash for their own personal use. I will not pay membership dues or make contributions until Wayne is gone and there is a full audit.

Instead my money will go to the Second Amendment Foundation. They actually fight to defend our 2nd amendment rights in numerous court cases.
