My ancestors built this country. I have at least three Mayflower ancestors and many other very early immigrants. I have ancestors who were murdered on their way to church by indian savages. I have ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War. I have ancestors who fought in the Civil War. My father fought in WWII, receiving the Silver Star. Many, many of my ancestors had immediate family who fought in American wars. One of my ancestors was wrongly convicted of witchcraft, imprisoned, and had her property confiscated. All of my ancestors were good, intelligent, hardworking farmers, craftsmen, merchants, and statesmen.

Low-pay workers from China and Ireland built the railroads. Low-pay workers from Russia and Italy built the garment industry. Scots-Irish exiles became the frontiersmen who fought the Indians and the British. African slaves cleared the land and grew the cotton, tobacco and sugar cane. British elites wrote the Declaration and Constitution. But none of them had H-1B visas, and none of them singly built the country. It was a joint effort over generations, by Americans, who were the synthesis of all these groups pulling together and learning to get along, which is an ongoing process.
