There are ways to give the residents of DC full representation in Congress, without converting the District of Columbia into a state.

As a local radio host said, you would first have to repeal the 23rd amendment as this only gives DC 3 electoral votes by law. Instead simply keep the are directly surrounding the White House and Capitol as a federal district and allow the rest to join Maryland.

The Dems had the entire time of 0bama’s reign to pass this BS.

Yet, they didn’t.

They always try this cr@p during an incumbent Repub Prez election year.

Passing this would forever give a Dem majority, in the Senate.

No Way in HECK!!

Kevin McCarthy actually joked about passing this....what requirements that Rs would make, for voting FOR.

I hope he got an earful, from all across the country, for his inane suggestion...and, for even considering this anti-conservative rubbish.

The writers of the Constitution knew what they were doing. DC should not be a state because it is the federal government
My father was born in Washington, DC and he told me that when he was young he thought DC should be a state. But then as he grew older and more educated he said it was definitely best that it wasn’t.

IF DC were a state the head of the federal government would be subject to the whims of a state governor and legislature.

Occasionally, I seriously think that anyone who is employed by the government should not be allowed to vote.

And by “toeing”, I mean taking the liberal line on everything, lauding Biden and childishly talking Schitt about Trump and patriotic FReepers

That would be two permanent Democrat Senators and one Member of Congress.

Give 95 percent of DC, with 99.9 percent of its residents back to Maryland. Five percent around the mall remains a federal district. Problem solved?

No, because this of course is actually about two new Democrat Senate seats.

Yes, those that want full representation can MOVE out of a Constitutionally defined area that STATES you will not have the same rights as those outside of it.
