This would be the very best thing to happen to the nation, and I say this as someone who has been in academics most of my life. Academics is broken. Horribly broken. It's become ‘Hollywood’ for those narcissists who don't have other avenues to fulfill their narcissistic need. That's the absolute and indisputable truth, and it's the most narcissistic, ruthless, and unethical people who too often wind up climbing the hierarchy in academia. We can fix this, but it's going to require head to head competition with the existing system. Ultimately, online ‘universities’ without ‘bricks and mortar’ expenses can and will win this battle.
