Republican state Sen. Chris McDaniel should be our Govenor.
When I received Gov. Tatye Reeves robot call this morning, Gov.Reeves sounded happy and eager to change our historic flag.
He said,"We could do it this week" and only gave to option to speak to our local representatives if we supported changing the flag.
No option was given to voter against changing our Mississippi Flag.

We should recall Gov. Tate Reeves immediately.

Any of my representatives who vote to change our flag will NOT receive my vote come the next election, and I'm not alone in that reaction.
I will vote AGAINST whoever votes to change our Mississippi Flag.

I've never been so disgusted by my Govenor and Lt. Gov. in my live as I've been with Gov. Reeves and Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann.

Anyone who doesn't love our flag can leave !
No one is forcing them to live here !

We strongly considered moving South when we retired to get away from the crazy politics here.

However, it looks like the politicians have gone wacky in the South—nowhere to run these days....

I don’t understand the hostility to changing the flag. Mississippi is the Magnolia State and they have a Magnolia State flag pre-Civil War that I actually really like.

I know, I’m not from the south and I’m not a Mississippian. I don’t “get” the attachment to the Confederate flag and never have.

I do understand being told, pressured and cajoled into doing something you might have as well done anyways on your own. I do understand that. I understand the state is feeling under siege as well as many of us for various reasons.

However, the pre-CW flag is pretty damn cool IMHO.

Just go back to the original magnolia flag. The flag you’re twisted up about from the 1890s was not even the official flag from about 1906 until sometime after 2000 because MS didn’t really have a flag under law during that time. Not a single public MS university flies this flag and many local governments don’t either. You’ve even had another design appear on license plates.

Good. Republican Governor Tatye Reeves should get rid of that vestige to Mississippi’s racist Democrat past. For the first time since Reconstruction, Republicans gained control of the legislature and all executive offices in 2020. Since voters have finally eliminated the Democrat party from all bases of power this year, it is only appropriate for Republicans to get rid of the Democrat Party emblem on the flag.

What was the Mississippi state flag prior to this one?

Anyone care to guess where this moronic crap leads to?...well, changing all the States names is one of my outside bets, Texas, Louisianna, Mississippi, yeah, let’s rename them all!

"... nowhere to run these days ..."

Therein lies the problem. Far too many suggest to run away from the diseases foisted on Americans by the liberals. So, much like CHAZ, we are incrementally yielding the country away.

Seems to me that to change the state flag having a plebiscite would be the preferred way. Let the people decide. November is coming. Place the question on the ballot.

When I learned the history of this MS flag I pretty much came to that conclusion. I have known rural southern blacks who identify with the rebel battle flag because for them being a Southerner is key to their self-identity. I personally don’t get the regionalism.

Native Californians weren’t wrapping themselves in whatever version there was of the CA flag. When I left we were more likely to see the Mexican flag or a rainbow flag than anything state related

Yeah but which flag is actively banned? Seems some people are entitled to their culture but others are denied.

Guess it's back to "New Amsterdam", although of course the Dutch had a history with slavery as well.

They already voted about 2-1 to keep the flag in 2001. There’s a lot of other crap to fix in Mississippi before worrying about a flag that a majority of the people in the state already wanted to keep anyway. These people need to be forcefully told “hell no, go away.”

They did that 19 years ago. 65% voted to keep it.
