Even though new coronavirus infections are rising in America and around the world, new coronavirus deaths are largely flat, a trend largely missing from most mainstream media coverage.
Experts say the fact that new coronavirus deaths appear to remain flat is driven by more younger patients getting infected and recovering amid reopenings as the worst of the pandemic passes.
On Wednesday evening, the Washington Post issued a breaking news email alert headlined "New coronavirus cases in the U.S. soar to highest single-day total."
"Across the United States," reported the Post, "more than 36,000 new infections were reported by state health departments on Wednesday surpassing the previous single-day record of 34,203 set on April 25."
Yet the article failed to mention that even while new infections are on the rise, new COVID-19 deaths are not.
This vital information gap in the media is causing some health policy experts to worry that fear about the coronavirus evidenced, for example, by Wednesday's sharp stock market drop is not founded in facts, particularly about how the virus disparately impacts different age groups. The spreading of unfounded alarm, the experts fear, could risk deep harm to Americans' livelihoods and mental health due to a prolonged, widespread shutdown.
The coronavirus has ravaged elderly populations in nursing homes and those with underlying comorbidities, but now the virus appears to be striking those who are younger and healthier and more able to withstand the disease and return to life normally.

I believe in a month, the cases will go right back down, and then we’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Cases are spiking in about 7 states, not 50. That’s very concerning in those 7 states due to hospital crowding, while the spike lasts.
I have watched other states go through their spikes. The spikes have lasted about a week and gone down again. The cases shoot up the most right before they peak and head back down.
I hope these late states have the same experience.
Witness how herd immunity develops. However while young people will tend to recover, elderly and susceptible people who will inevitably and eventually come in contact with them may get infected, become very ill and many will die. Absent an effective vaccine, unfortunately that’s just the way it is.
so I now know five people who have tested and got a positive result, and are isolating
some of them had some symptoms...but none that I am aware of were very severe.
they were all on the youngish side, including a teen and a twenty-something
i think what is concerning here is that these positive tests are even news....when the symptoms are at most cold-like...ie, far less than flu like. because the flu stinks...a three week ordeal, basically.
and of course now we are hearing that there is no such thing as antibodies.....seems they are trying to say that herd immunity can’t exist.
this whole thing is mind-boggling
Blame the protestors
And that is the exactly the thinking that is going to see Biden sworn in next January.

It’s either...
A.) A virus so special so different from any virus that has existed for thousands of years that it does not provoke an immune response.
B.) The press is hyping a narrative
I’ll pick, “B”, Alex.
You cannot stop the spread of this virus. You can slow it down, at a staggering cost to the country, but you cannot stop it. Whatever terrible toll it will reap, it will reap. It’s not a question of “if” but “when.”
Having said that, now is the time to get it through the population. It is summer, it’s warmer, people have more Vitamin D and are generally healthier. The virus also seems to have attenuated somewhat, and isn’t as lethal as it had been.
Tear off the band aid. Let’s get it over with.
