I still wouldn’t do it, but I think if you HAD to wear something, that would be the way to go. It would enable people to see each other’s full face, and full expression. It is impossible to communicate in a human and positive way when only one-third of a face is visible. It’s how you read people, and the nuances of conversations.

I worked in such a job, and we took breaks to make sure everyone was okay and got more water or gator adequate to drink around every 30 minutes in the heat.
Yes a dr wears a mask during surgery. They cannot remove their hands from the sterile field to cover a cough or sneeze. The wearer actually knows how to put it on and wear it. The mask is worn once fora short period of time and discarded. It is combined with gown,gloves, scrubs that are hospital laundered and sterile drapes. A far cry from the politically correct snot rags worn on the grocery store that others on this board want to mandate
Would I be wrong to think that masks are worn during surgery primarily to keep bacteria out of the patient’s open body? I would think viruses were not the particular concern in that situation.
For starters I expect that dr.s, nurses, etc. are not supposed to come to work if they are ill and are trained to maintain a self-awareness of their own condition of health for that reason whereas bacteria is always present even the healthiest person.
In addition the famous N-95 is well suited to exclude bacterium that are far larger than viruses which are small enough to pass through an N-95.
