CARACAS, Venezuela — (AP) — Venezuela's Supreme Court, loyal to President Nicolás Maduro, on Tuesday ordered the takeover of two influential political parties opposed to the socialist government ahead of parliamentary elections expected this year.

The court suspended and replaced the board of directors for the Justice First party a day after the same move against the Democratic Action, one of the nation's oldest and largest parties. It was part of a “necessary restructuring process,” the court said in rulings posted on Facebook.

No legal action was taken, however, against Popular Will, the party of opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who seeks to oust Maduro with backing from the U.S. and nearly 60 other nations....

....Maduro on state TV accused opposition parties, which have controlled the National Assembly for the last five years, of robbing Venezuela of its wealth and plotting a foreign invasion aimed at ending his socialist government.

The National Assembly is the only branch of government Maduro doesn’t control. That will change with the next election, he said.

“People of Venezuela, the hour is drawing near, the day is drawing near, the moment is drawing near,” Maduro said. “With the popular vote we are going to remove them from the National Assembly. We are going to take them out.”...

I think he’s already well versed on these techniques:

The court days earlier seated a new elections council ahead of a vote expected this year in a battle for control of the National Assembly.

The unilateral appointments to the council were especially disheartening to some moderate opponents of Maduro who had been trying to reach an accord with the government for minimal guarantees for a free and fair vote.

The new National Electoral Council includes names of members of Democratic Action, who Allup said he does not recognize. Critics say that including the opposition party members is an attempt by Maduro’s government of giving it legitimacy.

Don’t give Roberts any ideas.

Which reminds me....

Isn't Roberts now the most powerful man in the U.S.?

In a 4/4 tie in SCOTUS (which is happening regularly), Roberts is the swing vote, which means that, he can stick it to Trump almost every time. Trump can issue regulations and executive order, but that man Roberts, will overrule him every time.

The 'art of the deal' Trump, needs to make a deal with Roberts, otherwise, Roberts remains more powerful than Trump.

I used to think this sort of thing would be impossible here. Now I think it is likely.

Cindy Sheehan, Medea Benjamin, Maxine Waters and AOC are very happy. In fact, the whole damned Black Caucus and White Progressive Caucus are elated.

Communist traitors are communist traitors, and they don’t give a damn about the freedom-loving people of Venezuela or Cuba or Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, or even No. Korea and Red China.

I lived in Venezuela in the early seventies. It was the most prosperous nation in South America. This was before Chavez and the present Maduro. It was good duty back then. At the same time was much trouble in Columbia due to the Marxist FARC. Many people fled Columbia to Venezuela.

Today Columbia has a stable nation and government. Today millions have fled Venezuela to Columbia. Some stay in Columbia and others go to Peru, Ecuador and Brazil. They go to where they have friends or relatives that can give them help. Those that have no relatives or friends are the most in desperation. They are to be pitied.

If one wants to know who the good guys are it is very simple. Just observe the direction of the footprints of the oppressed and desperate. They point to Columbia and Brazil.

There is a bridge between Columbia and Venezuela at Tarija. I have crossed that bridge many times just as a tourist. Today I have seen images of that bridge that are most sad. It is a bridge of just desperate people leaving. Once on the other side they will do anything to just survive. The men will do any work they can find and the women if they can not find work will sell their bodies to survive and provide for their children and family.

That is the result of Chavez and Maduro’s Marxism. Venezuela once a great nation is now failed. It can happen here also.

Right. So where is Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Michael Moore, etc now that their best bud, Chavez, destroyed their success for the idea of a socialist utopia? Major crickets!
