KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Four women lost their lives including a feminist activist and many others injured on Tuesday evening in an aerial bombardment allegedly by Turkish air force that targeted the village of Helenj, east of the town of Kobani, north Syria, local sources said.

The sources in the village told North Press that a feminist activist, named Zahra Barkal, was among the women who lost their lives in the bombardment.

Barkal was an official in the Kurdish Women Organization, known as Kongreya Star, which activities focus on the feminist movement in northeastern Syria.

Barkal was visiting a colleague of her in the village, according to locals.

The bombardment also caused damage and destruction for dozens houses in the village, the sources added.

Dozens were also injured in the bombardment and transferred to the hospitals of the nearby town of Kobani.

No party has claimed responsibility for the bombing so far, but locals said the bombing came from Turkish territories as the village is located near the border.

The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria said in a statement that a Turkish drone was hovering on the village of Helenj, bombarded houses and claimed the lives of several women.

The Asayish also condemned the bombardment and called on the international community and Russian forces to do their duty in preventing such aggressions on the Syrian territories.

It sounds like it was a precision strike - a targeted assassination.

It should be investigated as a war crime, against non-combatant civilians.
