I've wondered if 'Shot Spotter' can distinguish between firearms and fireworks.

If I was a criminal I'd give all the kids in the neighborhood fireworks to make the 'Shot Spotter' useless.

Shot spotter is great. I’ve seen the app on phones of local cops. I think this stuff should be published. I had no idea how many gunshots were happening in the next town over—on a daily basis.

Some of these folks empty the damn magazine and don’t hit anyone. Just an hour or so per month at the range and they would be much more effective. //sarc

THIS is going through the minds of ALL law enforcement now along with possible doxxing(family/home harm results) and possible ambushes. A close relative LEO is seriously considering chucking it all, walking away, and relocating from a blue-run LARGE metro area.

By this risk, it is meant that the mayor and DA will have the policeman fired and prosecuted for murder if the policeman tries to do his job according to his/her training and a perp dies. And the perp can die on the scene of confrontation from stress and overdose.

Part of the problem is that they’re trying to get some shots off before the oppo gets their hand cannons out of their waist bands and starts firing back. Many of these interactions are gang on gang warfare. No risk of range targets firing back. Human targets are another matter, if they’re gangsters, who tend to be very territorial and on hair-trigger alert.

What was it Trump said - something like “when the rioting starts the guns come out”. THIS as the report highlights is what Trump was referring to. When law and order brakes down and gives way to the mob, the criminals with guns come out to take advantage of the situation. EVERY TIME. All Trump was doing was speaking of the fact about the consequences of mob violence.
