When China’s ability to steal technology was interfered with they took a major hit. The may be good a stealing technology and forcing transplant manufacturers to give it up but they have shown little ability to innovate.

then they replicate it all cheaper than we can make it because of slave labor.

Isn't it weird that slavery in America 150 years ago still moves liberals to tears, but slavery today in the Far East and the Islamic world doesn't bother them at all?

“It is simple. We have committed national suicide. Self inflicted wounds out the yang. And I doubt it will get much better.”

In 15 years we will be large England. A shell of our former selves

There entire system is smoke and mirrors, they really are not that more advanced, they still don’t running water and sewer systems to most of their towns, villages and even some parts of some cities.

Just because everyone has a cell phone, doesn’t mean they are more advanced, it doesn’t cost must to throw up some towers and connect them all. They even do this in African countries and the Philippines.

When you get beyond that and discover most buildings don’t have adequate water/power, heck not even a $9 smoke detector and realize than when they do catch of fire, they go. However you don’t see that in our news. We are told they are so much better then us, but they are not.

This reminds me of the late 1980s when Japan was on the verge of surpassing the U.S. economy and leaving us in the dust.

More than 30 years later and still waiting.

Now Japan is a fine country and they do a lot of things right (like limiting immigration for instance). But they are no where close to surpassing the USA.

Togo is just $21T away from eclipsing the Trump’s Economy.

Maybe, but Burkina Faso will easily beat Togo who are only 20.52T away. Not far behind and getting ready to stampede past Trump's economy are the emerging powers of Benin, Lesotho, Kiribati, Mali and Burundi.

We did not send 70,000 manufacturing plants to Japan. To compare China to Japan is downright foolish.

Sadly my friend, I completely agree with you. They now have less than 4% of people who go to church. We have less than 9% that are truly believers according to most Barna Group polls.

Beijing’s aggressive investments in 5G and other technologies, with President Donald Trump focused on bringing back coal, is its own “national emergency.”

So who ever wrote is probably a fan of Greta’s an is totally in love with 5G.

I have asked this question before how is 5g going to benefit my wife and I?

We have two Chrome books which are blazing faster than my office paper weight, a windows pos!

Our chromebooks do searches and send mails/texts at the push of a button. My wife is using her Chrome book to read a Kindle book. I have Kindle on my Chrome for heavy duty stuff and an almost 2 year old Kindle for my fun reading and my 24/7 weather update from a neighbor’s expensive system for free. I use the Kindle to clear our emails faster than my smart phone. It is now 96.8 degrees with 18% humidity and 3 miles per hour, hot wind from a station about 125 yards from where I live.

Nixle provides me with any warnings I need via my Chromebook or smart phone.

I pay 99% of our bills and 100% of online orders via my Chrome book. Many of the bills are now auto pay, and I don’t have to do anything.

We have 2 Samsung smart phones, which are fast and cheap for us buy, operate and to use.

I don’t to need to hear that 5 g is like a new moon launch.

But it was true that headlines screamed in the 1980s that Japan was overtaking us.

RE: Notice the headline says “Trump’s economy” and not “US economy”. That tells you what the motivation is for writing the article.

The author’s approach towards competing with China seems to be something out of the liberal democrat’s playbook. It can be seen by these paragraphs in the article:

__________________________________________

At the moment, the U.S. has been earmarking such non-defense-related financing at about $1 billion annually. If you want to know why Xi’s government is so confident about China’s trajectory, this lack of scale is as good a place as any to start. Even if Trump’s Republicans were getting behind Schumer’s proposal (they’re not), it’s not enough.

“If the U.S. invested an additional $100 billion in R&D over five years—$20 billion a year starting in 2021—China would still retain its lead in R&D investment,” Duncan says. “The U.S. will have to invest much more than $100 billion in R&D if it is going to maintain its lead over China. Fortunately, it can easily afford to do so.”

_____________________________________

In other words, follow Chuck Schumer’s proposal or fall behind.

“China is old old old and not rich. From the American Enterprise Institute, read Nicholas Eberstadt’s exhaustive but readable take on China demographics:
https://www.aei.org/research-products/report/chinas-demographic-outlook-to-2040-and-its-implications-an-overview/";

LMAO. AEI is a globalist tank tank who loves China and thinks sending our manufacturing base to other countries is a good idea. They downplay Chinas growth and future growth to keep us off guard.

We were told told 15-20 years ago China would become democratic and capitalistic by this same bunch of FREE TRAITORS

AEI=SPIT

China will eventually surpass the US on GDP. They have 4 times as many people so of course they will. But they will have a much more difficult time passing us on GDP per capita, and that is the statistic that determines your standard of living.

It’s not just church attendance but moral rot. 58% of young kids believe socialism or communism is the way to go.

We are heading down as a country. Trump has just slowed it a bit.

Japan has a population one third that OF the USA. China has 4 times our population. There’s no comparison.

Yet still, we were besieged with alarmist reports during the 1980s that Japan was overtaking us. They were even buying up ranches in the U.S. and what not. They were going to own us, according to the “experts” at the time.
