Because of PC politics, the current rabid anti white views of the left the DA way overcharged and when this cop walks and sues and gets back pay the idiots who believed the fantasy presented by the media are going to erupt.
Cops are taught, trained, when someone takes away your baton or taser you shoot them.
This officer already knew that this guy was on probation/parole and this DUI would send him back to the slammer.
The cop did exactly what he was trained to do by his own department.

Should have been treated like any OIS, where they get taken off patrol with pay while the case gets investigated. Unlike MPLS it was clear their actions were justified in some manner, maybe not perfect, but enough to warrant a full investigation first and not immediate firing and charges.
Once that is done, they you take any necessary actions based on the full report.
From the videos I've seen, the suspect would be alive if he'd continued to cooperate, if he didn't fight with the two cops, if he didn't take a cop's taser, if he didn't turn around while running to aim the taser at a pursuing cop. He wasn't shot until that happened. That suggests to me the cop was acting in defense of himself, his partner & probably the public still in the parking lot.

His attorney has probably advised him of that, and also to expect “back pay”.
If he does not get a fair trial in that county then this should go all the way to the SCOTUS
I hope you are correct. He should also sue the city for false arrest and charges, get a huge settlement and then tell Atlanta to go F themselves. I hope the police there continue to not respond in certain sections. I don’t feel sorry for them at all. They have made the bed that they must lie in.
