The elapsed time between the victim getting cracked over the head with the skateboard and the perp lying splayed out in the street two bullets heavier is two seconds tops. This is going to be an important factor in his defense, in my non-lawyer opinion.
Antifa kids must not have thought their victim was armed. So they chased him and attacked him with a skateboard and two knives.... Saying “I’m going to kill you”
The knife guy was ended before he could do damage thankfully.

It looks like legitimate self defense, but in the current climate of leftist street warriors aligned with the Democratic run government Mr. Baca will need good lawyers and lots of support. Even the governor of New Mexico has sided with the knife wielding assailant.
We have entered an era where the violent leftist street mobs are allies of the Democrats, and the Democrat run police departments and DA offices are on their side.
That is not going to happen. if they were going by the law it probably would. But now the law don’t mean shit. Everything is politics. And besides, the people that were attacking him are protected by the law. The purpose of the law is to prosecute you when you defend yourself.

Even if he beats the shooting rap, he’s still going to spend some time in the clink for ragdolling the girl. That’s assault plain and simple. The shooting though is self defense even though he started the shit storm.

I don’t think so. Knife guy had taken a step back but was still facing the shooter when the shooter opened fire. The bullets spun the guy around, or maybe he realized he was gonna get shot and began to turn, but he was already catching lead by that point.

The girl assaulted him first. Try pushing your back into a police officer or security guard some day to block their movement. See what happens.
It may be more of a response than was proportional, but that kind of argument is far from "plain and simple".
I'd like to see the knife in video footage, and not just in a still where it could have been photoshopped.
The veracity of the image will come out in time, and when the high resolution video is available. Low resolution versions of the video don't seem to show the weapons.
