It is because the government lied to keep the masks for “important” people. If you still think masks don’t work then, Fauci duped you and it is time to wise up.

That’s right; I told my family to use them early (and we had a few of the good ones) because every first responder on the news here in NJ was wearing one - even for directing traffic. It was clear that they knew something we didn’t - and they were supposedly more important than the people who pay them (us).
We’ve remained healthy, in an area that had plenty of infections and deaths.
It wasn’t that “the public wasn’t told to wear a mask,” as the article states. The public was specifically lied to and told that masks were ineffective and there was no need to wear one. Again, it wasn’t that they simply didn’t tell people to wear a mask, they specifically told people not to wear a mask because it was unnecessary.
So, it was all a stack of lies, including this article which is attempting to rewrite history and cover Fauci.
Masks don’t “work” the way most people use them. WIth correct usage, hygiene, and maintenance, masks do work. Disposable masks have to be disposed of or disenfected, or allowed to sit separately until any infectious material is inert. The way people toss their masks around, pull them down, wear them under their nose, constantly pull them off and put them back on, constantly touch their hands to their mask and their face, they are doing it wrong and the masks lose most or all of their effectiveness.
I guarantee that if we were truly in highly-infectious environment, 90% of the people I see wearing masks would be infected within a week’s time. That infections are so low shows that there really is very little infectious material going around at any given time, except in hospitals and nursing homes.
Exactly. They could have been honest about it too. Then equally showed Americans ways to cover up with easy hand made styles. Even a bandana is better than nothing. They could have said this.

Nonsense. Medical staffs have always worn masks, and for reasons other than virus infection, like fluid splash, etc.
Healthy people wearing masks over CV19 are fools. All you need is a little distance and don’t stay in poorly ventilated areas with other people.
Most everyone is going to catch this virus anyway. No need to add other problems to the virus.
