more.... It appears that Russia demonstrated a rare willingness to use its UNSC veto on Israel's behalf to block a resolution led by then-US President Barack Obama, which would have compelled Israel to set up a Palestinian state based on the 1948 borders.
Approximately six months ago, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at an election rally in Maaleh Adumim that he had asked a "friend," whom he referred to as "the leader of one of the superpowers who holds veto power in the UN Security Counci," to vote against the resolution. Netanyahu credited that leader, whom he did not name, with stopping the resolution.
In a recent closed-door meeting, Netanyahu revealed more details about the unusual event.
Toward the end of Obama's second term in office, the US spearheaded UNSC Resolution 2334, which states that Israel is in violation of international law by its presence in the territories captured in the 1967 Six-Day War. Israel realized at the time that the US administration was coordinating the resolution with the Palestinians and Europeans, but had no way of blocking it without support from the US.
On Nov. 24, 2016, Netanyahu called Russian President Vladimir Putin and explained that the resolution Obama was working to pass would disrupt regional stability and harm Israel. Netanyahu asked Putin to state that he intended to use his UNSC veto to scupper the resolution. But Putin refused. On Dec. 23, 2016, the UNSC passed Resolution 2334, although then-US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power ultimately abstained.
However, Obama had additional plans, even though he had less than a month left in the White House. He and his staff began working on another UNSC resolution, which would have forced Israel to agree to a Palestinian state based on the 1948 borders. Israel's UN ambassador at the time, Danny Danon, sounded the alarm.

It is very frightening to contemplate that this undocumented inexperienced fraud, puppet to G-d-knows-who, was eagerly voted in by complete idiots—TWICE. He failed to accomplish much good for the U.S. the first time, so the idiots had to give him more time to not only fail again for the U.S., but in fact destroy this nation and attempt to do that to Israel as well. Even now, out of office, his life is all about destroying the U.S. and delivering its emptied carcass to the Globalist spawn of Satan.
Obama only shelved the idea because Russia’s veto would reveal Obama’s deep hatred for the Jewish people.
Russia is not exactly “pro-Israel”.
Russia has interests in the area, and Israel is trustworthy and not insane. Sanity counts for a lot, even when you may disagree.
That said, Putin, while very much a nationalist Russian, is not anti-Semitic. He had a difficult childhood, and several neighbors and teachers (who happened to be Jewish) stepped in and acted as paternal/maternal figures.
Obama was an angel of death. He caused war and mayhem in Libya, Syria, Ukraine, which unleashed millions of refugees on Europe and the world, and conflict continues to this day. His support of the Muslim Brotherhood abroad nearly unleashed a genocide of Christians in Egypt, and it created a fifth column here in the USA. His Neo-marxist race-mongering brought the USA to the problems it faces today.
I remember a curious occurrence in 2016. There was talk in the news about whether or not Israel had the right to build a 3rd Temple up on the mount. Candidate Donald Trump said that they should. So did Vladimir Putin.
Well Israel doesn’t have to worry about a Palestinian state any time in the future. Whatever they do with the Palestinians within their borders is their problem; the U.S. is out of the Middle-East Peace business.
