One of the largest churches in Boise, Idaho, apologized for participating in "white supremacy" and announced it is removing the likeness of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from a stained-glass window.

In a statement, the pastors and staff at the Cathedral of the Rockies began by "acknowledging our own sin with a stained glass window," which also features presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

"The recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor brought long-overdue urgency to our discernment process," the church board wrote in a statement to members. "We are reminded of our privilege. We have waited too long."

Amazing cowardice (and make no mistake, this IS pure cowardice and hasn’t anything to do with being “woke”) being exhibited across this once and possibly never again great Nation.

I have never been happier being 78 and knowing my years in the main were spent in America during her finest years.

Honor your elders will now be torn from their Bibles, and yet the heathen will still abhor them.

Why would a church in a state that was never in the Confederacy honor a general from Virginia?

Disgusting spineless butt kissers. If you really have a need to kiss butt, at least choose someone worthy of your adulation, not a bunch of gimmethat rabble.

In my low 50s, I can't say the same thing.

The congregation has a “Black Lives Matter” banner outside the sanctuary
that reads “We repent for our participation in white supremacy.”

It plans to hold a “worship service of repentance” on June 21 and invites
the community to join in the staff-led small group studying the book
“White Fragility.”

About Us: “We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, LGBTQ+, straight, filthy rich, or dirt poor. We extend a special welcome to crying newborns, those who are skinny as a rail or could afford to lose a few pounds.

You’re welcome here if you’re “just browsing,” just woke up or just got out of jail. We don’t care if you’re more Catholic than the Pope, more Methodist than Wesley, or haven’t been in church since little Joey’s baptism.

We welcome soccer moms, Bronco dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, junk-food eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted.

We welcome you if you’re having problems, if you’re down in the dumps, or in need of a prayer. Whether you had church shoved down your throat as a kid, or if you don’t like “organized religion”.

We’ve been there too.

We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both. We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding hearts… and you!

I have always been proud of my Country, defects and all, unlike Ms.Obama. This will pass, this is political hype because the Dems and the media hate Trump.

This is not a Christian Church. This is a feel-good pagan PC cult.

Yes, this too shall pass. I do not see how it will get better though. We’ve been on this path for decades.

I sure don’t envy you or anyone else of your age or younger.

It is up to you and others willing to fight as to whether the Nation survives as the beacon of hope she once was for the world or turns into a mass of land peopled by cowards willing to sacrifice all we once had in the name of “peace”

I agree with you. I'm in my mid fifties and I feel like I saw the last fading glimmers of American greatness. By the time I started school, the 60s counter culture was firmly established in the mainstream arts and media The scum that lead the hippie movement had cut their hair and begun infiltrating the upper levels our institutions, rotting them out from the core. By the mid 70s, when I was about 9 or 10, that greatness was gone. So it seems to me as I look back, anyway.

It was still strong in the 70s. One of my greatest memories as a 10 year old was the Bi-Centennial celebrations, with parade after parade or soldiers in period dress, battle re-enactments, patriotic songs and readings of the Declaration. All races and religions participated in the revelry. No one even mentioned slavery or "white supremacy."

Ironic that at the time this is happening in the US, the Russians are consecrating a cathedral to honor their military history along with their religion.

It speaks to me of two societies on different arcs of the Tytler Cycle.
