I haven’t found that to be the case...except for some lightning cables bought from Amazon that turned out to be KNOCKOFFS. Amazon 3rd party sellers are well populated with unethical sellers of VERY low quality stuff. Sometimes you simply get what you pay for.
The same thing goes for USB-C cables.
