Yes, as in the days of Noah. 👍 I dont know who assigns the call signs. Might be the Wing. Might even be the command. When I was at Laughlin, one of the Tweet squadrons, was using the call sign Satan, which I didnt like much, but it was just a call sign, with two numbers. We much preferred single syllable call signs.
When I had a pattern full of aircraft, the last thing we wanted, was to try to pronounce multi syllable call signs. I didnt like a call sign like Galaxy 30 heavy. Too much verbiage. When it got really busy, call signs just went out the window. It was all about F-15 short initial, pitch now. F-15 take off leg, closed approved, follow the F-15 in the pitch. F-15 long initial, delay pitch, follow the F-15 inside downwind. All F-15s pass over top of the C-5 on final to 21L, make your approach to 21R. It was so busy, call signs were not even used. Too darn busy. 😁🤪😆😂 Those were the days. It was even worse in Vietnam. That was an absolute nightmare. 🤑
“her call sign is a trimmed bush?”
Well, “Hardwood” would be inappropriate.
In the movie, Hackman agonizes over rescuing the downed pilot because in Hollyweird land our forces must remain paralyzed with inaction lest we offend - and a Democrat President would be sure to enforce that. In the end, Hackman finally rescues the pilot and resigns for breaking orders.

Some NATO guy tells the Admiral (Gene Hackman) not to rescue the pilot...
I liked the action scenes in BEHIND ENEMY LINES...
I hate to belittle this report of the First Female F-35 Pilot in combat but combat to me would be going face to face with enemy fighter aircraft and engaging them in combat or at the minimum going into an area with a high AAA environment where you have to attack high value ground targets.
Anything other than that is like going on a tour.Fortunately for her we have not had to face a significant enemy air threat in years.
Hopefully it remains that way.
Choosing a maintenance crew for the symbolism rather than because they are the best people for the job.
Can’t agree I wager they will work harder to prove their worth and not just symbolism guess how Capt. Emily Thompson got where she is.
It appears to me, from the photo, that this female pilot is Caucasian and not Oriental/Japanese in ancestry. Thus her using “Banzai’ as her call sign is VERY racist and she should be punished for her racism in using it.
Choosing women for "combat" pilots is only about symbolism. Clinton started this bullsh*t.
Karen Hutlgreen, and yes, she was deliberately promoted because of orders from above, and she did not meet the minimum qualifications. She kept failing her tests. They said "pass her anyway."
And she killed herself by flaming out her engine while coming in for a carrier landing.
Are you familiar with Capt. Kristin BEO Wolfe?
Not the ones I worked with. Most did there jobs, just like all the rest, but I did not think any worked harder, just to show their worth. Its all rather subjective anyway.
Just need one of the male pilots with more experience in the F-35 to declare himself a transgender woman, and poof, suddenly she is only the second female to fly the F-35 in combat. Aint progressivism grand?
