A former judge appointed to oppose the Justice Department’s request to drop its case against Michael Flynn urged sentencing to move ahead in a court filing Wednesday, arguing the government’s request to dismiss the case has only “pretextual” justification.
Ex-Judge John Gleeson said in a DC federal court filing that “[t]he facts surrounding the filing of the Government’s motion constitute clear evidence of gross prosecutorial abuse. They reveal an unconvincing effort to disguise as legitimate a decision to dismiss that is based solely on the fact that Flynn is a political ally of President Trump.”

U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan appointed Gleeson, a former U.S. district court judge in New York also known for handling mafia cases as a prosecutor, to oppose the Justice Department’s request to drop the case. Both Sullivan and Gleeson were nominated to be judges by former President Bill Clinton.

Gleeson is filth and lacks the judicial temperment of a 2L. He and Sullivan should be disbarred for this vindictive stunt.
He should probably round up some other people he dislikes and sentence them too. Why not? That’s where we are as a country today.
Sullivan knew what Gleeson would say when he solicited his amicus curie brief.
Sullivan may yet try to save face by dismissing the case in a hearing he has scheduled for July 16. But, if his game is to keep Flynn gagged as long as possible going into the elections, that may be, and likely is, an excuse for further stalling and consideration. The Appeals Court should end this farce.
This Friday, I understand, there’s a hearing on the matter. That should be interesting.
So he’s going to sentence him for charges that no longer exist. Black privilege?

Does a judge have the right to impose a sentence even if the prosecution drops its case?
So, when Flynn is sentenced, which would not surprise me, then what? Getting tired of these delay tactics, but Trump & Co. seem willing to let this happen.
This is a man who, if given unlimited power, would have no problem taking away the liberty, or life, of people whose only crime is that they hold a different philosophy than him.

Unreal. Surreal. The only reason he was pursued was because he was a political ally of Trump. The reason to drop the charges is because of prosecutorial misconduct, and misconduct by the investigators.
The hilarious thing is he quotes the FBI 302 that was fabricated as an essential step in framing Flynn.
This is a sham trial. Judge Sullivan has declared Flynn guilty even though the government has said no crime was committed. If this travesty is reversed on appeal, President Trump should issue a pardon.
The attorney for Judge Sullivan did not so much file a brief with Sullivan as he filed his partisan editorial with the Washington Post poisoning the proceedings and called it a brief. Sullivan is compromised and the appellate court needs to recuse him for violating the criminal defendant’s due process
