(Soros pick) Harris County DA dismisses nearly 800 criminal cases against protesters arrested during George Floyd marches

HOUSTON-

...The DA’s office announced Tuesday night that it had dropped charges against 602 people arrested during the protests in Houston, totaling 796 criminal cases.

...The majority of the cases dismissed, according to the office, were mainly for trespassing or obstructing a highway.

“While probable cause existed for the arrests of those people who refused to disperse after being ordered to do so by police, our young prosecutors worked hard to identify the few offenders who came to inflict harm on others and intentional damage property,” DA Kim Ogg said.

Prosecutors have charged 51 adults and one person under 18.

Those charges include 35 misdemeanor charges and 19 felony charges that include weapon offenses and assaulting an officer.

...“The job of the prosecutor is to seek individualized justice in every case,” Ogg said. “While probable cause existed for the arrests of those people who refused to disperse after being ordered to do so by police, our young prosecutors worked hard to identify the few offenders who came to inflict harm on others and intentional damage to property.”

...With the dismissals, the people whose cases were dismissed no longer charged don’t face the prospect of being saddled with a criminal prosecution that could jeopardize future educational, employment and other opportunities. Expunctions will be agreed upon, although those charged may need representation to clear their records. “With so many professionals wanting to contribute, I am confident that the criminal defense bar will volunteer their services to clean up the criminal records of all involved,” Ogg said.

...“We will always protect the First Amendment rights of peaceful protestors,” Ogg said. “The only people I will be prosecuting are those who intentionally hurt others and intentionally destroy property.”

Same as the case after every Leftist riot/protest in this town. Whether it occurs at the GOP political convention or some other scenario.

i guess it really pays to be a criminal these days- no fear of prosecution- get to keep whatever they stole- don’t have to pay the businesses that they burn down- can commit crimes right in front of police- and police stand back and do nothing-

but by golly go to church and see what happens-

Prosecuting means exposing the facts of the situation, which the leftists in government don't want to happen.

Therefore, they must let the culprits go.

I wonder how many of those being prosecuted are white kids with skateboards since Houston Police Chief Art Arcevedo blamed ALL the violence on them.

She also let lots of criminals loose during the pandemic lockdown.

Houston PD is pissed.

Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance, Jr. has done the same thing.

He says he will NOT prosecute protest related arrests "in the interest of justice".

However, he chose not to extend this same courtesy to those New Yorkers protesting the indefinite lockdown of their businesses because of the virus.

I hope no family or friends of the D.A.’s calls 911 for assistance. All the responding police cars might get a flat tire on the way. What a shame.

"He says he will NOT prosecute protest related arrests "in the interest of justice"."

I called Cuomo's office yesterday and left a nasty message on their voice mail. It's the first time they've been taking any calls since the lockdown started. I said: "Manhattan D.A. Cyrus Vance, Jr. releases all the rioters without charges, and you think it's the NYPD, and all police agencies that needs reforming?" I also told him that he and his father destroyed New York State. I also called my Republican State Assemblyman and left a voicemail, but he's outnumbered as the Rats control both the Assembly and Senate.

I would think that such a glaring double standard would not pass a supreme court judicial review.

Best to raise the cases now to forever stop them from this severe overreach again.
