My exact thought. You don't get to do this for very long without powerful people protecting it. The same with big drug dealers. They have to have the cooperation of Banks, Judges and Police to exist at that level.

The brother accidentally killed Jon Benet. It gets obvious the more you think about it. I think he accidentally killed her while playing with a heavy object. The parents tried to protect him. Once the lie started there was no way out. It totally unraveled their lives.
