Mowing down unarmed protesters/looters/vandals won’t change anything. Nor will sending in military units. Something has to be done to deescalate.

People don’t realize how close we were to having Communist Revolutions on a global scale that year.
That strategy has worked so well for us ofer the last several decades.
Are folks still rioting over Emmett Till and Rodney King? The blacks get all riled up for a bit but no movement can sustain that kind of energy indefinitely. The adrenaline/caffeine/whatever other drugs they are on wears off and life goes back to normal...until the next unarmed black man is killed. Not killing black men unless they are a credible threat to the officer's life would appear to be the key to breaking this cycle for good. Post #12 is correct. We need to de-escalate the situation, not throw gasoline on the fire.

How's this for a solution: De-escalate the escalators. That'll include more than looters and vandals. Once they begin to get 'de-escalated', the protesters would get the message.

If you are throwing Molotov cocktails, looting stores, destroying private property....shoot them. These are the dregs of society who know we will do nothing. They do not care about arrests or criminal records. They are feral humans who are incapable of living in an ordered community. They are unwilling to cooperate with police to solve crimes and have given up and sense of community.
Shoot the leaders who organize this. It is sedition and inciting a riot. Execute them publicly.
THAT will calm this down.
