Republicans search for new convention venue as North Carolina's governor REFUSES Donald Trump's demand for a mask-free 19,000-strong event in Charlotte

Organizers of the Republican National Convention said Tuesday they will begin visiting potential alternative sites after North Carolina's governor told them the COVID-19 pandemic requires them to prepare for a scaled-back event if they want to hold it in Charlotte. Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, said in a letter to the top convention organizer and the national GOP chairwoman that 'planning for a scaled-down convention with fewer people, social distancing and face coverings is a necessity.' The letter came on the eve of a deadline from the GOP for assurances that Cooper would allow a full-scale event in August. Later, Cooper told reporters it's unlikely that virus trends will allow a full-capacity nominating convention for President Donald Trump to proceed at Charlotte's NBA arena.

Charlotte wasn't disqualified back in the days before the coronavirus lockdown and the social distancing and masks nonsense.
With that idiocy going on, you have to go to a state with a Republican governor and preferably a city with a Republican mayor with no lockdowns and plenty of freedom.
You can't have the future of the entire Republic hanging on the whims of some deranged far left Democrat partisan
Ronna McDaniel and President Trump are working on it as we speak. Trump tweeted about it yesterday.
Not going to be too much of a problem coming up with an excellent venue.

Downtown Jacksonville, FL, and its surrounding communities have the hotel rooms, restaurants, and a venue (Veterans Memorial Arena) that can probably handle the convention. FL Governor DeSantis, Jacksonville Mayor Curry and a majority of NE Florida citizens would welcome the RNC to town. Oh, and we’ve been off the mask kick for a while now. Purely voluntary here. Some businesses require them, but people here don’t mind, they just don’t go to those businesses.

Trump might take NY

Sure. He might take all 50 states plus the District of Columbia as well. But I really doubt it.

They should move it to Fort Worth, Texas. The city has a Republican mayor and is in a red state. The convention center there is spacious, with plenty of parking, and right next to the downtown business district.

My family lives there and except for one elderly aunt all are Trump supporters. Including the Union members and self described Democrats. Fairly friendly State for Trump. No matter where the GOP goes there will be protesters bussed in.
However, my comment about Wisconsin was tongue and cheek. I would do it in Columbia SC. They have a large convention center and hotels. University would provide protesters but that is anywhere, But it would be a real poke in the eye to Charlotte. The city is small, hotels would be booked solid, less logistical support for protesters. I recall that during an event there, the police effectively shutdown the bridge from the University going to the bar district around the Convention Center. Maybe easier to keep protesters at bay in a smaller city.
As an aside, business man from the Charlotte who claimed no big deal because they would not see increase in business from convention is an idiot. With Cooper forcing COVID restrictions into August for no good reason, his business model is not the same as the last convention. There are people hurting here because Cooper is destroying the States economy. Lots of blue collar workers would love the jobs and extra money from a convention. The millions the convention brings in is not just to hotels and bars.
Although not in play, Charleston West Virginia has a large convention center. Friendly territory and from my experience I would think police could easily control the city. Although you want to go to swing state, you also do not want another Chicago 1968 type convention. All the press will focus on is protesters.

How about Pittsburgh?

Convention center is too small, not enough parking nor hotel space, not to mention a demonRAT gubbernor and mayor.

Other than that, as a native son, I think that Pittsburgh is perfect.

Would love to see him come to Oklahoma City or Tulsa. But since we are rock solid in our support of President Trump I don’t think the convention will be moved to Oklahoma.

And you would be incorrect. It is a left city. There is no opportunity in ATL for anything other than carnage

Cooper is running for re-election. He thinks his demands on the RNC will win him votes and kudos in the DNC press.

As a North Carolinian, I am so very grateful to President Trump for not putting up with Cooper’s Demonazi tactics and for pulling the convention out of our tyrant’s domain.

I suggest US VIrgin Islands or Guam. The Trump corporation has planes to carry delegates and supporters and it’s a nice vacation. Limits troublemakers.

Considering all the big picture & other factors-—I would LOVE to see the RNC Convention go to Rush Limbaugh’s home town in Missouri.
