It’s all about avoiding lawsuits. Everything we do.
Same, I need new eye glass lenses, first have to see the Ophthalmologist, Endo has me on a 3 month schedule, I’m hypothyroid, and Type 2 Diabetic, #3 drug was the 3rd reaction. Need a PA for Farxiga. Tricare Life is balking because of cost. Think Insulin expensive, this 1 is over $500 a month and Express Scripts has to fill it. Need samples first. Tired of all the reaactions.
9. In most states, the executive orders are unconstitutional. The governor does not have the right to make law.
I understand emergency orders like an evacuation for a hurricane or something. Our emergency is going on four months, plenty of time for the legislature to get off their vacation and actually do something.
Freedom of speech and association trickles down to freedom of what you wear. They cannot force us to wear a specific item of clothing.
Regarding compliance, I can’t wait to see what’s next.
That’s a good point. Oddly enough, when Cuomo and the legislature protected nursing homes from lawsuits, they neglected to protect private biz. Neither has Congress. Go figure.
Note to bricks and mortar shopkeepers: I am aware of the risk you run. Here’s an offer: Don’t try to make me wear a mask to enter your store, and I will happily sign any liability waiver your legal eagles can come up with.
‘You can require me to wear a mask to enter your store.’
I said to a grocery store manager ‘you are forcing me to do something against my will, I think it’s only fair I do something to you against your will...I demand 20 dollars credit to shop here each visit that you make me wear a mask...’
he shrugged and said ‘hey, governor wants it that way’ and walked away...when this is over, my relationship with my town folk will be markedly different...
‘Other than that, haven’t worn one and I won’t!’
so how do you get groceries...? mulch, you can live without, but food...?
My sister made one out of fishnet stockings as a gag gift. I think I might give that a try.
Cuomo’s EO permits businesses to do it.
His EO does not require biz do it.
But biz is using that as the excuse.
If biz wants to knuckle under, they can do it.
I don’t have to shop at any biz that does.
If I can get what I want online, I will.
Just be sure you have copies of Cuomo’s mask EOs handy. :-)
Not at MY local Walmart!
Folks are about 50/50 there and we get along just fine with each other; although I do admit to being a scofflaw at the one-way arrows on the floor.
Most docs I visit are long term relationships...been visiting for years, some decades. My GP I consider a kind of friend...he was mom AND dad’s doc! My dermatologist/cosmetic surgeon has cut and frozen more spots off me than I can count. My dentist I inherited from my previous dentist that retired. My proctologist...let’s just say he’s “close” too.
I’m masking up for them, no complaints.
Bullshit.
I also started cutting my own hair about five years ago. I figure I've saved a couple thousand on that too.
My wife is a type-1 adult onset diabetic, and she would do the same if her endo made such a request. :-)
I don’t wear one. My stubborn independence is sponsored by friends who work in Walmart. I often drive them to work and drive them home in the course of my usual day (driving all over the place), so they are happy to return the favor and shop for me. And I feel bad for them that they must wear masks eight hours a day, or they don’t get their paychecks.
Meanwhile I go to a place like Burger King to experience pandemic irrationality close up. The cashier is masked and gloved, and extends a plastic tray into which I place my debit card. Then the tray is offered with return of the card. This tray isn’t washed and innumerable people have done what I must do: paw the surface of the tray to take the card, plus the receipt. If the cashier had just handed me these things I would not have corona cooties on my fingertips. Or at least I’d have the cooties on just two fingertips instead of five. Which is to say the tray has more than doubled the danger. Which is substantial according to them. :(
Parked by a church yesterday. Nobody went in or out, but an elderly couple, masked, crept into the tavern next door to it...Are the state-owned liquor stores closed? Can’t be. You’d see some riots.
ONLY when I HAVE to wear one like doctors office or since I live in Virginia now when I to grocery or pharmacy or even coffee shop I wear either my MAGA or Trump 2020 mask just to tweak everyone around me ... especially to provoke TDS in Northern Virginia leftists just outside the Peoples Republic of DC.
One of these days; a few thousand Richard Dreyfuss types are going to remove their masks...
Less Than Six Feet Away Encounters of the Fourth Kind
Mask in a coffee shop. Guess they don’t want to sell much coffee - unless it’s to go, I guess.
This is GOLD, Jerry...GOLD!
