I know that a plurality of UMC clergy are left-of-center, but the COVID Panic has demonstrated to me that the UMC leadership is part of the Liberal Ruling Elite. What did it for me was learning from my church's Youth Ministry Director that the Resident Bishop was telling our churches not to send snail mail--because envelopes get licked.
Methodism was founded as a reaction to an out-of-touch state church. Now it is part of the Establishment. It frets about accommodating LGBTQ concerns--but is silent when people like our Governor talk about legalized infanticide.
Oh I am sorry re some churches. I fear our church will not reopen they are being so odd. I am in despair over it. Have to find another church, just heartbroken.
If the church (all denominations) folds this quickly now, what’s going to happen when preaching that homosexuality is sinful? Or when tax exempt status is denied? The quickness with which the church gave up is frightening.
Maybe it’s best we find out now?!
