For the first time, the U.S. Navy has granted a waiver to allow a transgender sailor to continue her military service despite the president’s ban on transgender people serving openly in the armed forces.
Attorneys for the sailor and a spokesperson for Navy Secretary James E. McPherson confirmed earlier this week that senior government officials had approved the waiver. Navy spokesperson Brittany Stephens said the sailor, known only as "Jane Doe" in media reports and court documents, “requested a waiver to serve in their preferred gender” and will be “allowed to adhere to standards associated with their preferred gender, such as uniforms and grooming,” according to CNN, which was the first to report on the waiver.
SPART*A, an organization that advocates for transgender service members, said in a statement that the organization is “ecstatic” about the Navy’s announcement, hoping it could pave the way for more transgender people to serve openly in the armed forces.
“I am hopeful that this is the first of many,” said SPART*A President Emma Shinn, “but the fight is far from over.”
While LGBTQ advocacy groups remain optimistic that this first step could lead to positive developments in the push to reverse Trump’s ban on transgender people serving openly, some felt the move could be an attempt by the White House to neutralize legal arguments against the policy.

How many normal men would want to have one of these mentally sick people next to them in a combat situation?
Probably trying to force Trump’s hand into making a decision that they “hope” will be unpopular enough to cost him the election. I hope he fires the Navy secretary and kicks out the queer.

I bet it serves onshore - who would want to go to sea with somebody like that? Can you imagine the bunking arrangements? What about showering? Unbelievable ....

Well, hethinkshesashe propably performs better than women of the same rank physically, so if challenged hethinkshesashe would bring that up making the physically fit argument unusable.
As for mentally fit, the Navy has been suffering from bad leadership and poor discipline for years now.
But hey, just wait, in years to come they’ll have to accommodate people who think they are dragons, tats and horn implants and all, and people who think they are cats, litter boxes and all. With a little luck they might find wanna-be sea lions, faux seagulls, and aspiring dolphins to recruit.
These days here are no such thing as orders to be obeyed. They are treated as suggestions to be considered...
What about basic training ???
We didn’t have locks on the individual doors as we had bed check at night...
In both basic training barracks and duty station barracks women went down the corridors to the bathrooms to shower etc in skimpy clothing...we were all girls...
Men were not allowed in the living quarters...
What about the women who might object to a man being on the same floor and able to ogle them or worse...
personally I would not feel safe...nor would I care to have a superior who cant make up his mind that God made him a man for all time...imagine the confusion at least in orders etc from a confused mind...
At what about the women him hits on...or the men...are they allowed to complain of sexual harassment ???
When they stopped calling homosexual and transgender people mentally ill, they lost sight of reality.
Maybe this person does a really good job. Being nuts doesn’t mean incompetence, though being on hormones the body was never meant to be on is bound to affect one’s judgement. But they lack evidence of such until they try dealing with it for a while.
Recruiting may be so weak in recent years that they can’t just take the cream of the crop but rather have to accept whatever floats in. Most of the officers grew up watching Klinger on MASH and most of those they’re enlisting now grew up on Star Trek, so eccentricity is not the recruiting turnoff it once was. In the new anything goes normal the old Hornblower normal may be considered disruptive and undesirable.

One of the arguments against having real women in combat with real men is that the men get distracted by trying to protect the women.
Now to answer your question. If being forced into a combat roll with one of these people I kinda think the mentally ill one would become a casualty. No one would intentionally whack the sick one, rather just let the nature of the battle take it’s course without doing the things a normal male would do to help and protect a normal male or female.
The US military, the greatest social experimental force ever created; the US Navy pioneering the way with all the super expensive multi-billion dollar non-operational toys the Pentagon Admirals love, now turns its hand to admitting even more weird perverts into its ranks- after all the new Navy motto is “Diversity Above All Else”.
Sounds like a good time for a blanket party.
