Sen. Burr's brother-in-law sold off stocks before crash on same day as Burr: report

The same day that Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., sold off at least $628,000 worth of stocks before the market crashed, his brother-in-law also dumped a significant amount of shares, according to a new report from ProPublica.

The report, citing a public financial disclosure form from Burr's brother-in-law Gerald Fauth -- who serves on the National Mediation Board (NMB) -- reveals that Fauth sold between $97,000 and $280,000 worth of stocks in a total of six transactions on Feb. 13, 2020. Burr's sales that day, soon before the coronavirus panic tanked the market, reportedly led to the Securities and Exchange Commission investigating whether non-public information played a role, but his attorney denies this.

I have complained about the “insider trading” on Capital Hill for years, but this is almost impossible to prove.

I know people who sold off their stocks or pulled out of the market at the outset of this mess based on nothing more than intuition and the pandemonium in the media. It is why the stock market cratered.

In other words.... how do you prove this? I am no fan of Burr or most of the GOPe for that matter and I think he has abdicated the important role of his committee to Mark Warner, but absent a smoking gun communication that specifically references some insider knowledge this will be nothing more than another media driven “scandal” to blunt other scandals that reflect poorly on their masters.

This is “business as usual” on Capital Hill and congress has made it “legal.”

Burr told and sold information to a whole lot of people. He even told the audience at a fund raiser to sell stocks before the crash.

People stand to make a 50% gain on their reinvested money.

People need to forfeit their gains and go to jail.

Burr is immune from consequences other than being kicked out at next election. His brother is not immune. Prosecute.

This is all bad. But of course the media has no interest in investigating the Biden financial schemes and misuse of office.

“Another crime by our elites that absolutely nothing will be done about.”

With Burr, possibly.

With Dianne Feinstein, absolutely..

Burr attended a Senate meeting on January 25 and any info learned there about the virus was well out in the public by February 13. I don’t like Burr but what specific undisclosed information did Burr have on February 13 when he sold some, not all, of his stocks that no one else had? Everyone in the world knew about the corona virus well before then. It was the only issue reported in the media for days on end. We are not talking about a specific stock here where he had inside info but the general stock market where he had an opinion as to direction. Sounds more like envy that he sold some of his stocks sometime after the market started to weaken.

Burr is a Deep State traitor. Trump needs to force him out. But not until after the election.

He’s my senator, but I’m so ashamed of him. We also had Elizabeth Dole a couple of terms ago. Oy.

They don’t mention of course that Pelosi and Feinstein did the same thing and in larger amounts.

How when all we get are lies even from the so called conservative news?

Bill Hagerty is running for Lamar seat, he is a Romney man.

The more conservative is Dr Manny Sethi a trauma ortho. Trouble is short of Nashville no one has heard of him except in small goups.

I have posted this on previous FR reports, but here it is again. There needs to be a new Special Council named with a small army of forensic accountants to investigate Congress both Dems and Reps. Starting with the longest serving members. Determine how they and their families acquired their wealth. Expose these vermin to some sunshine. We might end up with de facto term limits as the investigation unfolds.

Yes I do realize that I have a better chance of hair growing back on my bald head then of this investigation ever happening.
