The whole package was a gift from outside the state.
Elect Cuomo!!! Have some Kool-Aid. Tastes great!
UMMMM - They were paid!
Other than slaves, most people "volunteer" for their work, then, dangerous or otherwise.
Not necessarily if they were active military.
Does New York not require servicemen to pay state or city income tax?
Not if they are not NY residents.
Under federal law, states are prohibited from taxing the military income of nonresident service members who are stationed in their states. Note, this protection only applies to military income.
See: https://www.military.com/money/personal-finance/taxes/tax-tips-for-two-state-residents.html
“There’s nothing outrageous about this.”
There is nothing ILLEGAL about it. But it certainly IS “outrageous”!
Yup one of the founding tenets of this nation of states is no taxation without representation.
If they’re not residents of the state and have no say in how it’s run then it shouldn’t be allowed to tax them.
What income?
They are taxing the salaries of the volunteers.
Interesting.
Rush does work in NYC/NYS in a matter of speaking. Via airwaves and streaming internet, his voice is heard there. He makes money on his obscene profit breaks, a.k.a commercials, that are also heard in NY.
Local Rush outlets in NY also have local entities advertising during those breaks, which they make money, and I’m assuming Rush gets a small cut of as well. Or not. I know nothing of the business end of radio.
True. It might have been better to have saidwhen the person volunteering is going out of his way to go into harms way_for the sake of the public interest_, I dont see that the fact that they are paid is at all a contradiction of the volunteer label.A cub scout mother is a volunteer, undoubtedly. The head of the Boy Scout organization isnt considered a volunteer, not only because he is paid but because it is his vocation. A nurse living and working in Idaho is not a volunteer; a nurse living in Idaho riding to the sound of the guns when that is not her job is, IMHO, a (paid) volunteer. I suppose it depends some on the pay - If you she goes to NY because NY advertises high pay and benefits, that would change the calculus.
