Desperate times do indeed call for desperate measures. For the Democrats, a truly desperate time could come if Joe Biden is forced to withdraw from the presidential race. While the former vice president is the presumptive Democratic nominee to face off against President Trump in November, his nomination is still far from official.
Some Democrats tell me they fear that Biden’s political survival is getting more problematic with each passing day. They cite three main issues. The first is their concern that an allegation of sexual assault leveled against Biden by former staffer Tara Reade won’t go away anytime soon. If anything, it appears to be about to gain a new life.
Next, they worry that another shoe could drop regarding questions related to Biden’s son Hunter and his business dealings. Lastly, some Democrats are concerned about Biden’s age and possible cognitive issues — a concern that some also have expressed about Trump.
For those reasons, and a few more, might we envision Biden being privately talked into retiring from the race or voluntarily doing so himself? Let’s assume that happens just before or just after the party’s convention, in whatever form it is held. What would happen then?
The process is actually fairly straightforward. If Biden quits the race right before the convention, delegates would select a new nominee. If he drops out right after the convention, members of the Democratic National Committee would pick their replacement candidate.
Who might be in consideration to become the new nominee — and who would be selected as the vice presidential running mate?

Start with a field of 30+, neither was cankles or the magic negro.
Three strikes against Biden? Hell, that’s just a warmup for Hillary.
Obama wasn’t eligible the first time, he’s REALLY not eligible now.
You know the Democratic Party Machine has ways around that.
I don’t care the legalize arguments, putting Obama there isn’t going to fly. He can’t be president so why waste the spot of Veep. And if he could backdoor his way in, it’ll set a dangerous precedent for the future.
Joe will be their nomination. Should they win, I don’t know who the POTUS will be after January 20, however.

If Biden drops out, all of his delegates are released. They become free agents.
In that case there would be more free agents at the convention then there would be Bernie delegates. If those free agents banded together, they could easily outvote Bernie and nominate someone else.
Or Hillary/Mini-Mike.
If he’s dumb enough to tap Hillary, she’ll double tap him.
And we thought COVID19 was bad...
Allowing him in the first time was a dangerous precedent.
Now any anchor baby, Chinese tourist baby and Anwar Al-Awlaki’s kids, born in Yemen to one citizen parent, are eligible. (If Ted is, they are)
Bernie hasn’t dropped out. He was very annoyed when New York cancelled their primary last week and gave the delegates to Biden. He protested strongly about it.
Does that sound to you like someone about to drop out?
And who do you think the Bernie Bros will vote for if Bernie is somehow screwed out of the nomination if Biden drops out?
In 2016, 12% of Bernie supporters voted for Trump. They ars not fond of Hilary at all.
I agree that he can’t run for a 3rd term but never underestimate this clown. There is nothing that says he cant be VP. Once elected Biden spends his days drooling in the oval office groping the nurses changing his diaper and Obama comes on the teleprompter every afternoon to tell us all how its gonna be and that unfortunately the President is busy right now.
The 22nd Amendment is so poorly drafted, it’s not even clear what it means.
