ACTION: Rep. Massie wants you to call your Rep before there's no FOOD!
Twitter ^ | 29 April | Rep. Thomas Massie

Posted on 04/29/2020 1:08:34 PM PDT by RandFan

@RepThomasMassie

Big multinational meat processors are shutting down, animals are being wasted, and shortages are coming. Our bill, the PRIME Act, stands for:

P-rocessor R-evival I-ntrastate M-eat E-xemption

It would help with this problem now by empowering small US processors.

Call your rep.

The POTUS already dealt with this and put the entire food supply chain under the DPA! Massie is just grandstanding!

No way I would vote for the “PRIME” act. Nope. I’d hold out for the “MOREBACON” act:

The “Malarkey Over Real English Bacon And Congress Open Now” Act.

A more distributed meat processing industry for more competition. Good!

This is different. It would allow states to permit more direct producer to consumer sales. Relaxing regulations on small processors. Headline is fear-mongering but the bill seems very logical.

***..animals are being wasted, and shortages are coming.***

Much like the 1930s when the government bought up tens of thousands of livestock, herded them into ditches, shot them and buried them, to get the price of meat and milk back up.

Ten years later, the same government agents were begging for farmers to increase livestock production for the war effort.

And just how many calves can one cow drop in a year?

I just don’t see how this can be. The one thing that people are still buying is food.

Can’t be!!!

FReepers have assured me that there is not going any food shortages, and that I am childish, ignorant etc. for suggesting the possibility.
