Seemingly all over the map. First as a leftist-populist type. His trajectory was to go from Congress (he did serve there from NY) to either NY Governor or NYC Mayor to President. That didn’t work out for him. After he helped to get in FDR, he got a bellyful of what that REALLY meant and went rightward.
