Health habits and density of population in areas that they live are the likely culprits.
I saw death stats the other day
52 percent White
The other three groups all were +4 on their share of US population
So if anyone is significantly disproportionate, it is Asians, who had more than doubling
Population density and public transportation.
In the recent “retrospective study” of 378 men in the VA system (which was recently touted in the press for supposedly showing no benefit to hydroxychloroquine), included a MAJORITY of African Americans among their sample.
One more way to skew the results.
The article skips over the obesity factor, and it’s associated health risks (diabetes, bp, heart disease), pretty glibly.
“There is little dispute that African Americans have higher rates of obesity, diabetes and heart disease than whites, Hispanics or Asians, and those underlying health conditions leave them more vulnerable to various other diseases. But that doesn’t answer the question about COVID, or the flu for that matter. The 2009 H1N1 epidemic, for example, affected all ethnic groups similarly. In 2010, the CDC reported, “There is no epidemiological or clinical evidence that suggests that African Americans are more susceptible to either 2009 H1N1 or seasonal influenza.”
Haven’t we just spent months being told that it’s not the flu? And it’s not H1N1? It’s a new thing, it’s more serious and more deadly. It affects the lungs, and if your cardiopulmonary system is under strain because of obesity or other factors, you are more at risk. That makes sense to me.
Poor inner-city blacks have higher co-morbidity rates like obesity and diabetes. Also, nationally, blacks are 13% of the people and 6.5% of the deaths... so are they over-represented or under-represented?
May or may not. One should consider social and medical reasons, not just one or the other.
There were black sights saying that black people couldn’t get it.
African Americans have the highest percentage of diabetes in the US. A doctor recently told my wife that if you have diabetes and get Covid19, your chances of survival go wayyyyyyyyy down.
Could it be that the communities affected were late adopters of social distancing?
Thunderbird?
Menthols?
Leopard prints?
Also, they are cherry picking data... the states they chooe have higher black populations in the cities.
Yeah-its not rocket science considering their co-morbidities and they live in areas of high population density (cities).
And then we must also consider that when Trump requested and funded the development of this virus he specifically asked the Chinese to design it to preferentially kill blacks. D**n him for his evil nature! (/Democrat)
Likely reasons. Blacks are more likely to die from the virus because...
Far more likely to live in high density areas.
Far more likely to use public transportation.
More likely to smoke.
More likely to be overweight.
More likely to be vitamin D deficient.
More likely to live in a multi generational home. Old folks live with the younger ones.
More likely to work in the healthcare sector.
More likely to have all three top comorbidities, Hypertension, diabetes, obesity.
Look at the list of cities with the highest obesity rates and look at the ethnic makeup of those cities. Nobody is forced to be obese. Fatties cause problems for themselves and we all pay for it. Put down that deep fried chicken and eat an apple!

ACE II related Covid-19 Susceptibility Hypothesis
Genetics is science, right?
Who participates in Mardi Gras?
the musicians?
the float people?
those who sell food or merchandise?
the tourists?
I wouldn’t be surprised if other than the tourists, the participants are disproportionately black.
the virus doesn’t discriminate.
